STAFF Before moving to DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus in 2009, Garrett was the associate head coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for two seasons. Prior to joining the Islanders in May 2007, he was an assistant at Iowa (200607), Seton Hall (2001-06) and Siena (2000-01). Following his first collegiate stop with a Metro Atlantic Metro Conference Championship at Siena, Garrett spent five seasons at BIG EAST member Seton Hall. He made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament and one appearance in the NIT with the Pirates. Garrett joined the Iowa staff during the 2006-07 campaign and was briefly on the staff at New Mexico before accepting the associate head coach position at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He started his coaching career in Chicago as head basketball coach at Providence St. Mel High School from 1994-00. Garrett was also athletic director and head track and field coach while leading the basketball program to a 130-50 record in his six seasons. He was a four-time District Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches
Association and led Providence St. Mel to four regional titles. At Providence St. Mel, he tutored former DePaul player LeVar Seals and also coached Steven Hunter while directing the Illinois Fire AAU program. Garrett coached in the Illinois Fire program from 1994-00 and also served as a coach at the ABCD Camp from 1996-00 and was a coach at the adidas International Basketball Camp in Beijing, China in 2004. The native of Indianapolis, Ind., earned his degree from the University of Indianapolis in 1991 after playing four seasons of football at Illinois State. Garrett and his wife, Annissa, have one son, Billy. Billy will be a senior at Morgan Park High School in 2012-13. Garrett’s father, Bill Garrett, is recognized as the first African-American basketball player in the Big Ten Conference. He played at Indiana for three seasons and finished his collegiate career in 1951 as the program’s all-time leading scorer.

DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS | THIRD SEASON AT DEPAUL After working for head coach Oliver Purnell for the past three seasons, Andy Farrell was promoted to the director of basketball operations in May 2011. Farrell served as Purnell’s video coordinator for three seasons including the 2010-11 campaign at DePaul. As the Blue Demon video coordinator, Farrell’s primary responsibility was the breakdown of game and practice footage for player development and assisting the scouting with each opponent during the season. In his latest role, Farrell coordinates team travel, practice sites and scheduling for the program. Over the last three summers, Farrell has served as co-founder of Rising Coaches Elite - an association for rising coaches in college basketball - and ran the Rising Coaches Conference in Las Vegas. In the first two years of the conference, it was attended by over 100 support staff members and had 25 speakers, including head coaches and assistant coaches in the NCAA, as well as prominent members of the media.
During his two seasons at Clemson on Purnell’s staff, he helped the Tigers to a combined 44 victories and two NCAA Tournament appearances while serving as the video coordinator. The 2009-10 squad went 21-11 after the 2008-09 team posted a 23-9 record. Farrell spent time as an undergraduate and graduate student working with the basketball programs at Dayton and Virginia Commonwealth. At VCU as a graduate assistant during the 2007-08 season, he handled the video duties and helped the Rams to a 24-8 record and 15-3 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association. For four seasons at Dayton from 2003-07, Farrell was the head student assistant for the Flyers under head coach Brian Gregory. In addition to his duties with the Dayton program, he also worked at the AAU level as a coach with the Dayton Metro (2003-05) and the D-1 Greyhounds (2005-07). He also handled basketball camp administration for the Dayton women’s basketball program. Farrell earned his Masters degree in Sports Leadership with an emphasis in coaching from VCU in 2009 and his bachelor’s degrees in finance and economics from Dayton in 2007, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
MAC CALLOWAY
DIRECTOR OF SPORTS PERFORMANCE | THIRD SEASON AT DEPAUL Mac Calloway joined the DePaul athletics staff in April 2010 as men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach. Following the departure of the director of strength and conditioning in July, he was promoted to the director position. Under his current title of director of sports performance, Calloway oversees the strength and conditioning program for all 15 sports. He continues to primarily work with the men’s basketball program along with his staff of Chris Dresher and
Jimmy Duba to keep all DePaul student-athletes at their highest level of performance. Prior to DePaul, Calloway worked as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Miami (Fla.) since 2005. With the Hurricanes, he handled strength and conditioning duties along with pre-season, in-season and off-season programs with the men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and men’s tennis teams. Calloway and DePaul men’s basketball coach Oliver Purnell worked together for two seasons at Dayton and Clemson. Calloway was the basketball strength and conditioning coach at Dayton during the 2002-03 season and joined Purnell at Clemson for the 2003-04 campaign.
