BIG EAST CONFERENCE

The BIG EAST Conference attracts the interest of fans in nine of the nation’s largest media markets including New York, Chicago, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Washington, D.C., and Milwaukee. Founded by Dave Gavitt in 1979, the BIG EAST reorganized in 2013, entering a new era by returning to its basketball-focused heritage. After just three seasons in its current configuration, the BIG EAST continues to differentiate itself as one of the nation’s elite basketball conferences, having sent a total of 15 teams to the NCAA Tournament, with Villanova capturing the National Championship title in 2016. The conference’s contract with FOX Sports 1 provides maximum exposure for BIG EAST Basketball. During the 2016-17 season, every BIG EAST Conference Men’s Basketball game is broadcast on the FOX Sports family of network which includes FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2.

HEAD COACH DAVE LEITAO

Coach Dave Leitao will enter his third season of his second term as the head coach of DePaul Men’s Basketball. Leitao returns four starters this season, including last season’s leading scorer Junior Eli Cain and leading rebounder Senior Tre’Darius McCallum. These returning Blue Demons will be joined by transfers Austin Grandstaff and Max Strus, along with incoming freshman recruits Justin Roberts, Jaylen Butz and Paul Reed. During his first stint as DePaul’s Head Coach (2002-05), Leitao led the Blue Demons to three consecutive post-season appearances and recruited three future NBA draft picks: Wilson Chandler, Sammy Meija and Dorell Wright.

RADIO & DIGITAL MEDIA RADIO ADVERTISING DePaul Men’s Basketball airs on WSCR 670 AM “The Score” Sports Radio, a 50,000 watt CLEAR channel station reaching 38 states and Canada. The Blue Demons broadcast at least 31 regular and postseason games on WSCR each season. All radio broadcasts, in addition to all DePaul Women’s Basketball game broadcasts, also stream live via the internet through the DePaul Athletics website. Thirty and sixty second advertisements, live reads and in-game vignettes are ideal opportunities to reach your target audience. All media placements are implemented directly by the DePaul University Athletic Department.

DEPAUL WOMEN’S BASKETBALL • Selected to the NCAA tournament during the 2016-17 season for the 15th consecutive year. The Blue Demons are one of only six Division I programs to go to the last 15 NCAA Tournaments, along with Connecticut, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford and Tennessee. • Has advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Second Round in four consecutive seasons and six of the last seven. • Four program appearances in the Sweet Sixteen (2006, 2011, 2014 & 2016) • Advanced to post-season play 29 of the last 31 years • 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 BIG EAST Regular Season Champions • 2014 & 2015 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament Champions • Six home games during the 2017-18 season will be played at Wintrust Arena. HEAD COACH DOUG BRUNO • A pioneer and crusader for women's basketball at all levels, Doug Bruno will begin his 32nd season at the helm of Blue Demon program in 2017-18. • Coach Bruno represented the United States at the 2014 FIBA Women’s Basketball Tournament in Turkey and captured a gold medal during both the 2012 & 2016 Olympic games, in London and Rio respectively, as an Assistant Coach. • Led the DePaul Women’s Basketball team to 15 straight NCAA Tournament appearances, a total of 22 appearances since 1988. • Named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year in three of the last four seasons, 2013-14, 2015-16 and 2016-17. • Named the 2017 WBCA Division I Regional Coach of the Year.


WOMEN’S SOFTBALL* • DePaul Women’s Softball program continues to rank among the nation’s elite. They boast 18 NCAA Regional Tournament appearances and have made four Women’s College World Series appearances since 1999. • Coach Eugene Lenti is only the 12th coach in NCAA Softball history to record 1,200 wins. • Coach Lenti and his staff were named the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year in 2014 & 2016. • Senior Morgan Maize was named 2016 BIG EAST Player of the Year. • Current Senior, Dylan Christensen, was named 2014 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year in her Freshmen season . • Home softball games are played at Cacciatore Stadium located at Sheffield and Belden in the heart of Lincoln Park. • Cacciatore Stadium is visible from the Fullerton “L” stop featuring the red, brown, and purple lines, who have a monthly ridership of over six million people (6,000,000).

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SOCCER • Continuing the rise of the DePaul men’s soccer program and beginning his 17th year in 2017 is head coach Craig Blazer. The Blue Demons concluded the 2016 season with a 9-7-3 record, along with a second consecutive birth in the BIG EAST tournament. • DePaul head coach Erin Chastain enters her 11th season leading the women's soccer program in 2017. Over the last four seasons, DePaul is 51-17-13 under Chastain's leadership with a pair of NCAA tournament appearances, a BIG EAST tournament title, conference regular-season title and an All-American recipient. • Home soccer matches are played at Wish Field inside Cacciatore Stadium on the corner of Sheffield and Belden in the heart of Lincoln Park • Wish Field is visible from the Fullerton “L” stop featuring the red, brown, and purple lines, with a monthly ridership of over six million people (6,000,000).


WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL • Head Coach Nadia Edwards, a former collegiate national champion, enters her seventh year at DePaul and has seen the program improve its RPI by over 100 spots, have multiple players recognized as BIG EAST All-Conference performers and be a five-time recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award. • The DePaul Women’s Volleyball team plays all of its home matches at McGrathPhillips Arena in Lincoln Park. • Each season, the Blue Demons host their annual DePaul Invitational in Chicago, a tournament which will feature some of the best collegiate teams in the nation.
