Play Synopses: IDENTITY CRISIS written by Breige Wilson.

Identity Crisis is a one- woman theatrical production written by Breige Wilson. It explores the issues of isolation, self-hatred and self- realization as three Trinidadian characters embark on their studies abroad for the first time. The play also deals with the negative stereotypes that Trinidadians face on a daily basis and ways in which they deal with these unexpected obstacles. The rich cultural heritage of Brazil, Barbados, the United States of America and Trinidad will also be staged and the audience will receive an up close and personal theatrical experience. This piece was inspired by my experiences as a student studying in different countries across the world. Questions concerning my identity, heritage and also self-worth bombarded my mind as I tried to find the answers to those nagging thoughts. Through this project, I was able to conduct interviews, give out questionnaires and do my own research on the topic. It was only then that I realized that I was not the only person who faced these challenges. The amazing thing about this production is that the stage would be transformed into different countries exploring the rich cultures that are harnessed within them. The challenge, it would be done by one person and through several creative avenues.
