Promising to revolutionize the reveling experience, Xhosa Barbados, a Barbadian Premium Mas’ Band, extends throughout the region to give the Crop Over festival celebration, the potpourri of carnival celebrations, festivals and party experience, as we celebrate One Caribbean, under One Sun! Partnering with LehWeGoSleek from Jamaica to introduce their Carnival Experience, the exotic Trinidadian flavours of Punchy Punch and the fiery heat of Scorch, the party mas’ flare of Richard Rollocks . . . A band with a difference is what we promise, not only do we ensure a truly premium West Indian festival mas’. . . This year, as we launch the leading party experience on the road, we also launch Xhosa Cares, as we partner with the Paul Williams to raise awareness and funding support for the Barbados Diabetes Association. 2015 is our inaugural year and we present the band One Sun, focusing on regionalism in creativity and strength in likeminded people.

Xhosa is the tribe of people of the great South African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela and other great leaders such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and of course Winnie Mandela. The Xhosa are a fierce tribe, that is what Xhosa means, FIERCE or ANGRY, and it is no surprise that at the height of the South African apartheid system, the Xhosa were a self-governing nation in the Eastern Cape. Xhosa comes to Barbados to be the fiercest tribe of revelers on the road. Bringing the diversity, vibrancy of colours, sense of rhythm, community and style of the Rainbow Nation to the Caribbean. Xhosa Barbados the freedom fighters for good fun . . . on the road for Crop Over 2015. Xhosa Barbados promises to revolutionise the carnival celebration experience in Barbados’ Carnival Season Xhosa Barbados is the brainchild of a team of young professionals who are promising to revolutionize the carnival celebration experience of Crop Over; Barbados’ carnival season. Catering to every need for the best kadooment experience; from customized, well-made glamourous costume, to personal care and well-being on the road, from cooling station to port-o-potty and of course good old West Indian libation! The uniqueness of the Xhosa Barbados Brand is to make each member part of the Xhosa Barbados family. Xhosa Barbados boasts an exclusive distribution system in its central and secure lounge; professional photography, premium drinks, snacks on the road and freshly cooked meal after the Kadooment parade are just some of the highlights of the Xhosa package. Though just in its first year, Xhosa Barbados has attracted a team of significant partners to support its theme of regional identity; from the North, they welcome Jamaica’s Leh We Go Sleek, who provides the carnival experience second to none. From the south the exotic Trinidadian flavours of Punchy Punch and the fiery heat of SCORCH BIM, and from right at home in Barbados the party mas’ flare of Richard Rollocks and the sophistication of the Paul Williams of Esquire Entertainment. Xhosa Barbados takes its distinctiveness seriously; to be a cut above the rest. Xhosa Barbados’ sense of community isn’t only towards its membership, but embraces the wider Barbadian landscape to include those who need our help. Xhosa Barbados dares to go where few have gone before and launched its philanthropic arm Xhosa Cares. This empathy for our citizenry extends to the wider community as they masquerade for a charitable cause. This year, with the Paul Williams, Xhosa Cares embraces the opportunity to raise awareness and funding support for the Barbados Diabetes Association. Xhosa Barbados is a rebel with a cause. Team Xhosa, as they like to call themselves, are as revolutionary as the people, whose name and reputation they have adopted; the Xhosa people of South Africa. Why Xhosa? Simply put, “the association with a strong tribe, defines our brand”, says bandleader Jeremy Nicholls. “We see ourselves to be revolutionary in the Kadooment/Carnival reveling premium experience; The Xhosa people of South Africa are a tribe of great freedom fighters and leaders: Nelson Mandela, Winnie Mandela, Miriam Makeba and even Archbishop Desmond Tutu to mention a few. This unique tribe, in a country as diverse as the region we live in, held a unique identity and

independence during the apartheid years and yet still led all of Black South Africa to its racial emancipation on the eve of the 21st Century.” With this raison d’etre, Jeremy with his team is sure that Xhosa Barbados will become a leader in Caribbean masquerade, promoting a brand that personifies and engages the region we exist in; to be ‘distinctly Barbadian and markedly Caribbean’ is their mantra. Xhosa Barbados’ mission is simply this; to be a leader in the festival sector by unifying the different peoples of the Caribbean for one goal under the theme One Sun. Providing a first class masquerade experience in the English speaking Caribbean, we, like the Xhosa, will represent the fiercest tribe of revelers on the road. We are bringing the diversity, the vibrancy of colours, the sense of rhythm and the style of the Rainbow Nation to the Caribbean. So when do we meet Team Xhosa Barbados and the beauty of their costumes? All will be revealed on May Day, when Xhosa Barbados will present their Kadooment carnival band at the picturesque and cool alcove, in the Heart of Barbados, Harrisons Cave, St. Thomas. A fitting venue for this ‘hot’ band celebrating the region ‘Under One Sun,’ a laidback fun event, it’s a Cooler afternoon Party, shorts and slippers atmosphere; from 4p.m. to 11p.m. Starting the Xhosa party until kadooment day. XHOSA TRIBE Xhosa means, ‘FIERCE’ or ‘ANGRY’, and it is no surprise that at the height of the South African apartheid system, the Xhosa were a self-governing nation in the Eastern Cape. Xhosa Barbados intends to do the same; liberate Barbados and the region from the stagnant and stale festival scene and take Carnival back to the people. After all, it is our people that make this region great! Xhosa comes to Barbados to be the freedom fighters for good fun . . . on the road for Crop Over 2015.
