WHAT IS FINANCIAL AID? Financial aid is money available from federal, state, university, and grants to help students meet college costs. Financial aid helps fill the gap between the cost of attending college and the amount that students and their families can afford to pay. EARLY FAFSA FILING You’ll be able to submit your FAFSA earlier. You can file your next aid year’s FAFSA as early as October 1, rather than beginning on January 1, of the next year. You’ll use earlier income and tax information.

• Eligible Georgia residents • Graduating high school seniors • At least a 3.7 GPA, as well as at least a 1200 SAT combined Reading and Math Score or 26 ACT score. • While in college, Zell Miller recipients must maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA

ACCEPTING/DECLINING AWARD LETTERS Grants & Scholarships are automatically accepted. Login to “POUNCE” to “Accept” or “Decline” LOAN awards and Federal Work Study. **If you are accepting Federal Loans, please visit studentloans.gov to complete Entrance Counseling & Master Promissory Note.

VERIFICATION Ensures the information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is accurate.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) All students receiving Federal Title IV (federal) and state aid must maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Must maintain 2 components to remain eligible for Financial Aid: 1. Pace: 67% Completion Rate 2. GPA: At least 2.00 GPA Statuses if SAP does not meet standards: 1. Warning: First time not meeting standards. **May receive aid for ONE semester under this status. 2. Termination: Below standards. WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS Withdrawal Steps: 1. Complete Withdrawal form with appropriate signatures 2. Contact appropriate offices: Financial Aid & Military Services 3. Submit completed Withdrawal form to the Registrar’s Office 4. Pay any remaining tuition, fees or other balances

• Students are allowed 5 withdrawals before midterm in order to receive a “W” instead of “WF” • Satisfactory Academic Progress must be in Good Standing

Medical College of Georgia

The Medical College of Georgia educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta as well as regional clinical campuses for 3rd- & 4th-year students and a second 4-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia.

Refund Policy: • The refund amount shall be based on a pro rata percentage

• Students who drop individual courses are not entitled to a refund for the course(s) dropped

The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University offers a four-year program leading to a doctor of dental medicine degree. Dual programs in oral biology also are available.
