ore than half of us would prefer an inexpensive, informal funeral service for ourselves, with only immediate family present – or even no funeral at all, going straight to cremation or burial, according to new research.

40.3% of those who took part in a survey of 2,560 people commissioned by White Rose Modern Funerals based in Teddington, said they’d like to dispense with the formalities and go for a ‘no fuss’ departure, with a further 15.7% saying they’d prefer to go straight to cremation or burial with no service and nobody present. A formal funeral service was the preferred choice of just 28.6% while 15.4% were unsure about their funeral choice.
