Buckingham County Solid Waste & Recycling Locations Purpose Buckingham County has an extensive and comprehensive solid waste and recycling program in place for county residents. The director of the department oversees all operations of the department, including proper disposal of all wastes, maintaining a countywide recycling program and other duties. All Sites Have a Monitor Stationed and a Camera at All Times The Buckingham Solid Waste & Recycling Center is located at the intersection of James Madison Hwy (Rt. 15) and Wingo Road (Rt. 750). This site offers cardboard recycling, glass recycling, newspaper recycling, construction debris, metals, appliances, and general household trash. No canning jars or windshields are allowed in the glass bins. Aluminum recycling is offered in January, March, May, July, September, and November on the third Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m - payment is given based on the amount of aluminum brought. This site is open from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. seven (7) days a week. The Arvonia Solid Waste & Recycling Center is located on N. James Madison Hwy (Rt. 15), beside the old Arvonia Primary School. This site offers newspaper recycling, metal recycling, general household waste, construction debris, and appliances. This site is open from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. Six days a week, Closed Thursdays. The Route 600 Recycling Center is located on Rt. 600 just 1 & 1/10 mi off of S James Madison Hwy (Rt.15). This site offers newspaper recycling, metal recycling, general household waste, and construction debris. This site is open from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Mondays-Wednesdays and Fridays - Sundays. The Route 655 Recycling Center is located on Glenmore Rd (Rt.655) just 3/10 mi off of N Constitution Rte (Rt. 20). This site offers newspaper recycling, metal recycling, general household waste, and construction debris. This site is open from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Mondays-Wednesdays and Fridays Sundays. The Route 56 Recycling Center is located on James River Rd (Rt. 56) just 2/10 mi off of James Anderson Hwy (Rt. 60). This site offers newspaper recycling, metal recycling, general household waste, and construction debris. 75
