Be it fresh vegetables or a plumber to fix a broken faucet, he had to run from pillar to post to get it all. “Vegetables were very expensive, not necessarily fresh; one had to run to a store for everything from nails to a strip of painkillers,” he says. used to online shopping, so we just took our shop there. ” he clarifies. Operating from Hadapsar for now, he has tied up with shops in other areas for efficiency and speedy delivery. o encourage tree plantation among Puneites, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has kicked off their ‘Plant-a-Sapling’ drive. It is an annual one-month programme, organised every year by the civic body at the onset of rains, in which saplings are sold at half the market rate at the PMC nursery. With temperatures in summer going up to 41.5 degree Celsius, citizens are facing a tough time battling out these extreme conditions. To keep the city’s temperature at a balance, more trees need to be planted and grown in open and reserved areas contributing to the green cover of Pune which currently stands at 34 per cent.
