YOUTH WILL BE SERVED FOR #CUWS IN 2015 Campbellsville had a breakthrough season in 2014, shattering multiple team and individual records on its way to the first NCCAA National Tournament in team history – finishing Top 4. The Lady Tigers have four senior leaders - Rachel Veatch, Morgan Danis, Kathryn Thomas and Aris Kuntz — looking to take the reins after the departure of defensive captain Alysen Shireman. Also, junior Chelsea Gill is expected to provide leadership as she returns for her second season as a Lady Tiger captain. In addition to the seniors and Gill, the firepower comes from the right foot of Mhairi Fyfe. The junior forward from Livingston, Scotland has scored 39 goals in her first two years and is on pace to shatter the career mark set at 53. Last season, Fyfe scored 24 goals and broke the previous single-season record set at 18 and was named the first NAIA All-American in Lady Tiger soccer history. On the defensive side, CU has a familiar face in goal, as Amanda Howard returns for her sophomore campaign. Howard also put her name in the record books with 133 saves in her rookie season.

The last line of defense before Howard though is a little more unknown. Danis has changed positions from midfield to defense and will be flanked by a sophomore and two freshmen. Sam Stack, a sophomore from Palm Coast, Fla. was called up to the varsity when the Lady Tigers made their deep run in the NCCAA’s last season. She started in all three games at the NCCAA National Tournament at right back. The two freshmen – Rachel Seals and Taylor Pence – are being baptized by fire early in their careers. The unknown is not an uncommon theme for Jones and his Lady Tigers, though. In 2010, Jones started four freshmen and two sophomores. Those four freshman graduated CU with the most wins in a four-year span, ending their careers with a mark of 48-29. This season, Jones will start at least two freshmen and possibly two others will play valuable minutes. Also, there could be as many as four sophomores seeing substantial playing time in 2015.
