Tennessee

Coming to Middle Tennessee in 1944 from Mississippi, the Amish population in Ethridge is one of the largest in the south. Located just north of Lawrenceburg, the Ethridge community is a farming enterprise supplemented by many small shops and home stores. Amish commerce extends off the farm with some selling products off the back of the buggy in the parking lot of a local tourist outlet.

Spring into summer

Oak Grove Tourism is having its 16th year of the Spring into Summer Festival Salutes Fort Campbell on May 27-28. Approximately 40,000 people come to enjoy the free festivities including a free concert on Saturday evening. Multi-platinum songwriter and artist Chris Janson will be headlining the concert. A proud member of the Grand Ole Opry, known for his hit No. 1s “Fix A Drink,” “Good Vibes,” and the triple platinum “Buy Me A Boat,” as well as the more thoughtful truths of “Done,” “Things You Can’t Live Without,” and the CMA Song of the Year nominee and ACM Video of the Year “Drunk Girl.” Both “Boat” and “Girl” were named to the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s prestigious “Songs I Wish I Wish I’d Written” list.

If concerts are not your thing, there are many other free activities throughout the weekend to enjoy. All the stage shows are packed full of adventure from start to finish. The bubble zone is an area perfect for adults and kids alike with pools filled with bubble solution and bubble wands of all kinds. As always there will be free carnival rides for all to enjoy as no tickets or wristbands are required. You can even hang out and take pictures with a talking robot.
