3000 years of glorious imperial history leaving behind splendid palaces, awesome royal mausoleum, majestic temples and of course the Great Wall. These are best experienced in Beijing and Xian, capitals of the most dynasties. And many of these are now UNESCO World Heritage sites and wonders of the world! In Beijing, the Great Wall, the Forbidden Palace, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace are all sights to behold. But one should also take time to explore the Hutong and experience life of Old Beijing as well as take in aspects of its modernity – the Olympic Bird Nest and Water Cube, the chic Sanlitun area and the 798 Arts district. Xian was the capital of China for the most dynasties including its Golden age in Han and Tang. The Terracotta Soldiers is without doubt the most stunning sights but one should also not miss the excellent Provincial Museum, the Old City wall, Islamic Quarter and the Bell and Drum Tower.

Sichuan and the Yangtze River Away from the political center and economic dynamite along the coast, Sichuan is perhaps the heartland of inland China. And it has more than its fair share of cultural and natural attractions. Coming face to face with the panda is a dream for many and at Bifengxia, you can do volunteer work and spend time with intimate interaction with these gentle giants. It’s an experience to cherish for a long time. There is a Chinese saying – “Guilin scenery top the world, but Jiuzhaigou’s scenery top Guilin”. Endless waterfalls, coloured pools set amidst verdant forest and rolling hills, Jiuzhaigou is indeed a paradise for all nature lovers and keen photographers. And Chengdu is said to be where the Chinese enjoy good life. Historical and cultural sites abound including the excellent Sanxingdui Museum, Le Shan with the biggest Buddha statue in the world and Emei Shan, one of the most important Buddhist Mountains in China.
