Sminky’s short animations have become global internet sensations, with over 6,000,000 views in a remarkably short period of time. Catchphrases such as ‘I cannn’t do it!’ and ‘he’s shtone mad for shpeed!’ have been adapted into everyday speech across the city and country. The man behind Sminky is Jason Sullivan, a multimedia student in Cork Institute of Technology. Meet Sminky includes the best of the Sminky animations plus some never-seen-before additions.
A live-tweeting screening of some our favourite shorts of the festival.
RED FM DJ Dave MacArdle will introduce the screening and facilitate a public interview with Jason.
We want an auditorium teeming with smartphones and smartguys and smartgirls to make this a truly interactive festival experience.
Have you ever wondered how a tortoise feels when he is going too fast? Would a mouse mourn the loss of a friend? Do horses have panic attacks? Do animals judge by appearances? The following pieces of nonsense are humorous out-takes of everyday Irish life as portrayed by various animals.

We¹ll screen a programme of superb shorts for tweeters’ amusement and delectation. And after each short film there will be an opportunity for audience members to tweet a short critique for followers and the filmmakers to read. There will be prizes for sharp insights, (t)witty reports and, of course, for the 42nd tweet!
