SAYF Miners seeking players 11-12 years of age The Southern Arizona Youth Football (SAYF) is still seeking local youth to sign up. “It’s 11 and 12 (year old) boys we need,” Coach Manny Lagunas said. The kids from the Copper Corridor including Kearny and the San Manuel area are all on one team, the SAYF Miners. The regional team will play teams from the Tucson area. At present, there are seven games scheduled in Tucson and one in Kearny.

Continued from Page 8 18-match schedule starting with a controlled scrimmage against the Lady Miners of San Manuel on Friday, Aug. 23, at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Lobos will be playing several new teams with St. Johns, Patagonia, Joseph City, and Mogollon joining the regular teams on their schedule. They also have two tournaments on their schedule. The girls will travel to Pima and Florence high schools to play in tournaments.

As of Wednesday, Aug. 14, there are 33 kids practicing at the Robert Casillas Field in Dudleyville from 5:30-7 p.m. If you are interested in having your boy play with the Miners, please call Coach Lagunas at 520-349-5172 or
just come to the field. SAYF’s first practice is slated for Mon., Aug. 12. The program enables local youth to learn and have fun playing football, while also teaching them teamwork and socialization skills that will
help them in all aspects of life. The very last day to sign up is Aug. 23. The first scrimmage is Sept. 7 in Tucson, location to be decided. First actual game is Sept. 14 also in Tucson.
