Memorial services for James Edwin Caffall, Jr., 80, of Oro Valley, will be held at Evergreen Mortuary and Chapel located at 3015 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. Mr. Caffall passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018. A full obituary will be published next week.

CAC cabinetry
Students at the Central Arizona College Aravaipa Campus were saddened to learn that the cabinetry and auto classes would be cancelled in 2019. These classes have been full and in the case of the cabinetry/woodworking class, there has often been a waiting list to join the class. The students do pay a tuition fee which includes an instructor and use of the equipment. Students have to provide their own materials for their auto and woodworking projects. Many of the students have been enrolled in the class for several years. The auto program has recently seen three generations of a family enrolled to work on a classic car together. One of the woodworking students has been working on building cabinets for her home. For a few of the students, the cabinetry class has become their place for lifelong learning and camaraderie. The classes are being cancelled to bring in a diesel mechanic and welding program of which are workforce skills that the local mining industry is in need.

Celebrating an early Thanksgiving dinner in the Tri-Community;
Veterans and other locals were welcomed to the San Manuel Elks Lodge on Sunday, Nov. 18, for the annual free Thanksgiving dinner. Volunteers serving the dinner saw a huge rush from 1-2:30 p.m. but folks were still enjoying the turkey with all the trimmings throughout the rest of the afternoon. In Oracle, the Oracle Community Center hosted its annual Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 1:30 p.m. On the menu was turkey (of course) and ham with all the fixings. The Tri-Community Food Bank provides monthly food boxes to households in Mammoth, San Manuel and Oracle and the surrounding area. Households must verify that they live in this area and have an income within federal poverty guidelines. The food bank is located at 108 W Redwood Drive in Mammoth. The hours are Monday through Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon Call 487-2010formoreinformation.Thefood bank also provides a limited amount of funding for utility and rent assistance through donations, SHARE and the EFSP (FEMA). Households are only eligible once every 12 months and must document a decrease in income or an increase in unexpected expenses.

Lions Club Weekly Bingo The San Pedro Valley Lions Club hosts Bingo every Wednesday night. Bingo starts at 7 p.m., promptly at San Pedro Valley Lions Club, 115 Main St. in Mammoth. As an added incentive, on one of the mid-month game nights, if they get 26-35 players, they will draw one number and the lucky holder will receive their initial purchase price of Bingo cards back; 36-45 players and they draw two numbers; 46 or more they draw three. This does not include additional cards purchased throughout the night. All of the drawings will be held before Intermission.

The Arizona Motorcycle Riders Association’s championship series presented by Motocity Anthem brought riders to 3C Ranch in Oracle, Arizona for the round 3 stop for big bikes, and round 2 stop for the minis. Xtreme MC hosted the event with over 60 volunteers
