Walt Disney: Animating America

The Essential Great Chicago Fire

No individual changed American popular culture more than Walt Disney! But that is just scratching the surface of his overwhelming contributions to America. He revolutionized the way we spend our free time, revolutionized the way movies are marketed, revolutionized the teaching of history, our view of the environment, our faith in technology and the way we think about art. He was a complex man whose life story is as fascinating as his impact on the world. We will look at both the private man and the public accomplishments of one of the most influential Americans of all time.

It started in a barn and, two days of flaming hell later, nearly destroyed a city. In The Essential Great Chicago Fire presentation, author and magician William Pack weaves together technical details of the fire with vivid firsthand accounts from those who lived through the conflagration of 1871, bringing alive all the excitement and terror in a multi-media storytelling event that will not soon be forgotten.
