It is also one of the oldest, having been established in 1890. “We’re the voice of those 1,300 members,” Lacy said. “That’s a powerful number of businesses that we can speak on behalf of.” The Chamber’s many accomplishments include the successful recruitment of the HP facility; the regional headquarters of Southwestern Energy Company, discoverer and developer of the Fayetteville Shale, a new source of natural gas; Conway’s inclusion in the Relocate-America™ Top 100 Places to Live in 2009; and the recognition of the CDC for its national economic development, including Area Development naming Hewlett-Packard the economic development “project of the year.”
