Harry passed away, Sunday, January 8, 2023 at American House in Jenison He was bor n July 17, 1931 in Metcalf, Illinois, the son of Lex and Vera (Stark) Thompson

Harry owned and operated Thompson Electric and was co-owner of Professional Code Inspections As a young man Harry enjoyed car racing and spending time at the Kalamazoo Speedway He also liked hunting, watching golf and football and spending time at his cottage up north He was a member of the Otsego Elks, was a scout master when his boys were younger and served on the Otsego City Planning Commission On February 24, 1951 in Otsego he married Nanette Judd who passed away in 2006 Surviving are his children, Katherine (Bill) McLoud of Jenison, Tom Thompson of Middleville and Sue (Greg) Morrison of Jonesville; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcia Thompson Slusher and Max Thompson both of Kentucky along with several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Dick Thompson and daughter-in-law, Wendy Services were held Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego Burial followed at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego Contributions in memory of Harry may be made to Boy Scouts of American Troop 98 of Otsego

Stephen John KOVACIK, Jr. AGE 89 - NORTHFIELD, MN

Stephen John Kovacik, Jr , 89 of Northfield, MN passed away Saturday, January 07, 2023 at home surrounded by family He was born on August 31, 1933 in Rossford, OH, the son of Stephen and Anna Kovacik (Dula) He graduated from Rossford High School, and had a long career as a metallurgist He retired from Rockwell International where he managed the Heat Treat Department He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on home projects, fishing, golfing, and was a longtime member of the Elks Steve is survived by his wife, Julie Kovacik of Northfield, MN; five daughters, Arlene Lancaster (Denny) of Portage, MI; Stephanie Barr (Steve) of Paw Paw, MI; Jennifer (Jeremy) McCollum of Mount Vernon, IA; Jessica (Jeff) McBurnett of Northfield, MN; and Jeanna (Casey) Randall of Cedar Rapids, IA; ten grandchildren, Thomas VanOrder; Devin West and Alicia Hardy; Grace, Lauren and Meredith McCollum; Nolan and Parker McBurnett; Alexis and Brady Randall; in addition to many other beloved family and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joey Kovacik and Albert Kovacik, sister, Marie Abbajay, and granddaughter, Alexandria McBurnett

Jeanne passed away, Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Kauhale in Otsego She was born April 3, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Clayton and Audrey (Wilson) Wheeler Jeanne earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati and worked in Human Resources for many different companies over the years In her free time she enjoyed reading, traveling, watching movies and staying busy She loved her dogs and spending time with her family Surviving are her sons, David (Heidi) Smith of Otsego and their son, Tanner and Ron Smith of Portage and his children, Christopher, Stephen and Megan; great-grandchildren, Parker and Sophia; sister, Carol (Glenn) Patterson of Cincinnati along with many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ray Wheeler According to her wishes cremation has taken place Contributions in memory of Jeanne may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association

Proceeds will go towards medical bills and his prosthetic needs It will help enable him to walk and be as mobile as possible His goal is to resume working part time Eddy Holmes from Otsego's class of 1977 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at an early age In 2010 due to complications from loss of circulation his left leg was amputated above the knee He didn't let it slow him down and resumed operating heavy equipment

November 2022 he was admitted to Bronson Methodist Hospital with severe pain in his right foot He under went 3 surgeries to open his arteries to no avail His right leg was amputated November 28th The doctors were able to secure a bed for him, at Mar y Free Bed hospital for rehabilitation

However it was denied by his insurance and he was sent home a week after the surger y Eddy is a fighter but he needs our help We thank you in advance for helping him meet his goals

We live in a broken wor ld broken promises, broken relationships broken emotions and broken dreams Yet, there is hope Er nest Hemingway, in “A Farewell to Ar ms” wrote:

“The wor ld breaks ever yone and afterward many are strong at the broken places ”

Some examples of unbroken hope in the Bible: Abraham found hope in God’s Covenant (Genesis 12:1-3); Noah found hope in an ar k (Hebrews 11:7); Joseph found hope in God’s kindness (Genesis 39:20-23); Mar y found hope in God’s favor (Luke 1:29-33); Apostle Paul found hope while in pr ison (2 Timothy 4:6-8); Apostle John, while stranded on an island, found hope in a heavenly vision (The Book of Revelation)

Here are some verses which will help us in moments of weakness

Struggling with a broken promise? Remember, God never breaks a promise! In Deuteronomy 7:9 we read, “Know, therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments”

Suffering from a broken relationship? God gives us healing where we hur t In Psalm 147:3 we read, “He heals the brokenhear ted and binds up their wounds”

Feeling emotionally weak? God is our tr ue source of strength In Psalm 22:19 we read, “But you Lord, do not be far from me You are my strength, come quickly to help me”

Experiencing a broken dream? In Jeremiah 29:11 we read, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to har m you plans to give you hope and a future ”

The point is God’s hope can never be broken So, let us join the author of Hebrews who said, “Let us hold unswer vingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23)

Prayer: Dear Lord, when we wonder if there is any hope for our wor ld, let us place our faith in the One who created the wor ld In Your strong name Amen

SAMMY is super sweet!

He can sometimes be slow to war m to new people but when you’ve ear ned his tr ust he enjoys affection and will show you that he is in fact a lap dog A good back scratch is something Sammy really loves Sammy loves long walks year round relaxing in the cool grass in the sum m er, and prancing through the snow in the winter He would fit well with exper ienced dog owners looking for a big, goofy dude who sometimes needs patient guidance Sammy is looking for a home without young children, but could fit well in a family with older kids/teens As of r ight now, he is pretty selective with his dog fr iends so it would be best if he could be the only dog in the home If you are interested in meeting Sammy, and have a dog already in the home, please reach out to the Allegan County Animal Shelter and request additional infor mation Sammy has been comfor table out on walks with calm dogs, however he is not com for table around energetic, over ly fr iendly dogs that want to playfully jump on him or get too close During his cat evaluation, he did not seem ver y interested in them, so he could potentially join a home with cats If your home has cats he can be retested to get a better idea of how he might do with cats Sammy is a year and a half old and weighs approxim ately 70 pounds
