TODD GOLDEN ASSISTANT COACH SECOND SEASON ST. MARY'S '07

T

odd Golden is in his first season as an assistant coach at Columbia after serving as the Director of Basketball Operations during the 2012-13 season. Golden played for current head coach Kyle Smith while he was the associate head coach at Saint Mary’s. While there, the Gaels made a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament becoming one of just six players in program history to go to the “Big Dance” twice in his career. In his senior year, he was second in the nation with a 3.68 assist to turnover ratio and led the West Coast Conference in three’s (31) and was second

in the league with a .574 three-point field goal percentage. Golden, a lone captain of the 2007-08 squad, finished his career as Saint Mary’s all-time leader in free-throw percentage (.852) and ranks eighth with 269 career assists. After earning his undergraduate Business Administration from Saint Mary’s, Golden played two years professionally for Maccabi Haifa in Israel’s top division. In 2009, he was cocaptain of the 2009 USA Open Team that took the gold at the Maccabiah Games.

KEVIN HOVDE ASSISTANT COACH THIRD SEASON RICHMOND '11

evin Hovde was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2012-13 season after joining the Columbia men's basketball staff in 2011 as the program’s director of basketball operations. Hovde came to Columbia after playing collegiately at the University of Richmond under head coach Chris Mooney. Columbia associate head coach Carlin Hartman also was an assistant coach at Richmond during Hovde's early years as a Spider. Arriving as a walk-on, Hovde earned a scholarship after his first year and played in 99 games during his career

and made 10 starts. During his time at Richmond, the Spiders reached the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 in 2011 and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2010. That year, Richmond lost in the first round to St. Mary's, where Columbia head coach Kyle Smith was on the staff. A native of Philadelphia, Hovde is enrolled in Columbia's postbaccalaureate business program in the university's School of Continuing Education.
