WHERE PASSION MEETS PERSPECTIVE

Founded in 1847 by the Sisters of Charity of New York, the College of Mount Saint Vincent is a rigorous and inclusive Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with nationally recognized undergraduate and graduate programs. Our scenic campus is located on the Hudson River, in the Riverdale neighborhood of New York City.

The Undergraduate College combines a strong core curriculum with a full array of majors. Small class sizes and personalized attention provide our talented students with an exceptional academic experience.

Education here goes beyond knowledge, skills, and preparation for work. At the Mount, we cultivate independent thinkers ready to apply critical inquiry toward lives of leadership, service, and innovation.

EDUCATION FOR LIFE AND CAREER— NOT JUST A JOB

You’ll explore unfamiliar ideas. You’ll be challenged to do even better than your best—and you’ll be a part of an academic community supportive enough to make success a reality. Here, you’ll find education at its best and most enticing—all that it should be.

10,000+ INTERNSHIPS IN NYC

It’s a big world and Mount students are ready for it. The Mount’s location in New York City ensures you’ll have ready access to internship opportunities at top businesses, entertainment companies, healthcare facilities, government agencies, and more.

LET’S GET CLINICAL

Nursing students complete clinical placements, externships, and preceptorships—one-on-one training with experienced nurses—at New York’s most renowned hospitals, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Mount Sinai Hospital, NYU Langone Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian University Hospitals of Columbia and Cornell, and more.

MINDS AT WORK: UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

The Center for Undergraduate Research sponsors and supports students developing original research across the College—frequently inspired by work that begins in the classroom. From psychology to genetics, Mount students present their nationally recognized projects at conferences across the country.

6

70 ACRES OF ROLLING HILLS OVERLOOKING THE HUDSON

The first thing people notice when they visit the Mount is the striking beauty of the campus. On your way to class every day, you’ll walk past a visual medley of grassy hills, historic sites, classic architecture, and modern buildings.

We maintain a thriving campus atmosphere, while creating new facilities and opportunities for students. Updated buildings and residence halls offer students access to various suites, lounges, kitchens, and study areas. You can live in a single, with a roommate, or with a group of fellow Mount students in one of our six dorms.

The College also has state-of-the-art simulation labs, a TV production studio, radio station, digital media labs, art and performance studios, a black box theater, professional dance studios, a music conservatory, sports medicine suites, NCAA regulation athletic facilities, and so much more.

7

YOU’RE IN NEW YORK

NYC is your playground. And your classroom.

You’ll cheer on the Yankees...or the Mets. You’ll see Wicked or Hamilton (and at a much lower price than usual: Student Affairs’ programming makes tickets to events like Broadway shows, games, and concerts available at seriously discounted rates). And we’re just minutes away from the best of the City—that means museums, theaters, restaurants, shopping, Central Park, Madison Square Garden, Wall Street, the United Nations, and much more.

8

GET INVOLVED OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

We seek the development of the whole person, and that means giving you plenty of opportunities to explore your passions outside the classroom, as well as in it. A vibrant campus life is part of our mission.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

We have more than 40 different clubs and organizations on campus. Whatever your interest—journalism, finance, creative writing, acting, art, dance, cultural awareness, athletics, community service, the environment, and more—there’s a club for you. Don’t see something that interests you? Gather some friends and start a club of your own!

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Mount graduates go on to become leaders in education, business, medicine, nursing, communication, and government. The strong sense of direction and purpose that carries them starts right here. There are many ways to hone your leadership skills—you can be an orientation leader or a resident assistant, join the Student Government Association (SGA), take on a leadership role in your club, or play a bigger part as captain of an athletic team.

9

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD: ATHLETICS AT THE MOUNT

The Department of Athletics and Recreation is committed to reflecting the values of excellence and achievement to which our institution aspires.

The Mount is a member of the Skyline Conference and an NCAA Division III affiliate. We currently offer over a dozen varsity sports and emphasize athletic participation as an integral part of the overall collegiate experience. We also offer many intramural and club sports, open to all members of our Dolphin student body.

The Department complements the College’s mission, emphasizing the holistic development of our students—we encourage honesty, integrity, teamwork, and discipline. We are dedicated to providing the support and resources that our students need to be successful in the classroom, in the arena of competition, in service to our community, and in their chosen profession.

Our on-campus facilities include a turf athletic field, performance and auxiliary gyms, dance studios, and a 7,500-square-foot fitness center housed in the Peter Jay Sharp Athletic and Recreation Center.

LEADERS IN SERVICE

Service is not an extracurricular activity at the Mount. Service is an essential component of the College’s mission and the charism of the Sisters of Charity.

Opportunities to serve can be found across the campus and throughout the curriculum. At the Mount, students engage in service to pursue knowledge, develop an understanding and appreciation for individuals from diverse backgrounds, and prepare themselves to address the challenges facing our communities, both locally and globally.

Over 1,000 student volunteers complete an average of 10,000 hours of volunteer service annually. In addition, students spend over 3,000 hours in reflection each year—which includes Masses and liturgies, service debriefs, advocacy brainstorming, and more.

13

100% INCLUSIVE

At the Mount, you’re part of a vibrant, authentically inclusive community that allows you to experience different viewpoints every day. Everyone has a home here.

Diversity is an important piece of your educational experience—you’ll share your unique perspective with those around you and gain new insights from your peers.

Plenty of colleges help their students succeed, but the best colleges are the ones that truly transform the lives of their graduates. Studies and rankings consistently recognize us among the best in the nation for our commitment to extraordinary student success—so it’s no surprise that we were ranked first—yes, first among private, not-for-profit colleges in NYC for social mobility according to U.S. News and World Report’s list measuring how well colleges serve low-income students.

14

FROM PASSION TO PROFESSION

Life after college begins while you’re still in college. You’ll do an internship, or two, to find out what you want to do, or what you don’t—which can be just as valuable. Grad school on your radar? No problem. There are plenty of people on campus to support you with the application process.

The College’s Oxley Integrated Advising Program helps students appreciate their strengths and interests, understand the value and range of opportunities associated with them, and strategize how to translate what they love into a meaningful career.

Whatever your goals, there are a wide range of on- and off-campus resources to help you reach them and launch your future. And our location is as convenient for your future as it is for your social life. We’re just 20 minutes away from Midtown Manhattan, providing easy access to the finest internship and job opportunities in the country.
