We have a reputation for high academic achievement, confirmed by our students’ results in public examinations. We are an Exeter University accredited Thinking School and have successfully implemented a whole-school approach to the teaching of thinking. Students learn how to think reflectively, critically and creatively and this has resulted in them demonstrating independent and co-operative learning skills, high levels of achievement and both enjoyment and satisfaction in learning.

Our teachers nurture and challenge Our teachers are absolutely dedicated and their drive and willingness to give extra help makes a huge difference to the learning experience of our students. They are friendly, approachable, highly qualified and professional. We have been an “Outstanding� school since 2007. However, we are not complacent and we demand that the learning experience for our students moves with the times whilst maintaining the traditions of good manners, discipline and respect for others. As a further indicator of our exceptional teaching, the Department for Education awarded us national Teaching School status in 2014, recognising our track record of raising standards in teaching. We are now a centre of excellence in developing outstanding teachers.

Sparking enthusiasm, releasing talent, developing leadership We offer a multitude of extra-curricular activities for students to explore which enable personal development and social skills to flourish. With activities ranging from Art, Sports, History, Science, Book Club, Maths Stars, Film Club, Gymnastics, Music, Dance, Drama, Chess, Modern Foreign Languages as well as Skiing, the Duke of Edinburgh Award and even Circus Skills, your child’s personal interests will be met. Weald of Kent students are encouraged to assert their views and take positions of responsibility and leadership. Our students really do play an active role in shaping the school and contributing to the wider community, readily putting themselves forward to become House Captains and School Officers.

Continual investment Providing a stimulating well equipped academic learning environment is critical to the development of our progressive curriculum and success. We continually strive to enhance our facilities for all our students and staff. Over the years we have invested in new buildings and state-of-the-art technology to make learning more accessible, productive and inspirational. We have fabulous new facilities for Art, Drama, Theatre Studies, Science, Mathematics and Sixth Form study. Our Learning Resources Centre is run by a qualified Librarian and also includes a Careers Centre with staff on hand to provide advice and guidance. We have a modern suite dedicated to examinations, providing a comfortable and functional environment which enables students to perform at their best. The Sixth Form and Training Suite is also located in this building. Highly efficient financial control, the generosity of parents and the tremendous fundraising efforts of the PTA have ensured that such investment has been possible.

The brightest of futures At the end of Year 11 Weald students continue into our co-educational Sixth Form which also admits high achieving young men and women from other schools. Our sixth formers enjoy study and recreational facilities exclusive to their use and needs. We offer extensive support for life post-18 including university and Oxbridge preparation. Most of our students progress to prestigious universities with most gaining their first choice placement. With a Weald of Kent education behind her, your daughter will have every opportunity to go as far as her ability and enthusiasm will take her.
