How to Register STEP 1 > GO Go to: www.recguide.stalbert.ca or www.servusplace.ca STEP 2 > SEARCH FOR PROGRAM Choose from the following to find a program: Program Guide – Click on the e-version of the program guide and select front cover for the section you wish to review. Program Listing – Click on Programs from the menu and search based on age group/category. Program Advanced Search – Click on Programs from the menu and choose search from the drop down list to search based on: • day of week • start time • program type • location • age STEP 3 > REGISTER & LOGIN To register online, you will need: • Login ID • Account PIN Number Have a Membership or Have Taken a Program Before? You have already been assigned a Login ID & PIN number. These will be emailed to the address attached to your current account by July 8, 2013 OR Click Forgot Password, enter your email address and receive login information for everyone on the account.

HOW TO REGISTER

In the event that you must withdraw or change your program registration (at least one week prior to the program start date), you can do one of the following:

All refunds and transfers within 7 days of the start date or after the program begins must be approved by a programmer and will only be done for extenuating circumstances. Please contact Guest and Member Services with all cancellation inquiries.

Cancellations

Programs may be cancelled due to low enrollment. In the event that a registered program is cancelled you will be notified, by phone, at least three (3) days prior to the start date. During these circumstances a full refund will be provided or you may transfer immediately into one of our available programs (subject to program availability). Register early to ensure your program runs!

Frequently Asked Questions

If the class is full can I go on a waiting list? Waiting lists are available for all of our classes; you will be contacted if a spot becomes available. Can I register after the program has started? We will strive to accommodate your request, please contact Guest Services at 780.418.6088. Can my child participate if they have special needs? Parents of children with special needs are encouraged to call our programming staff at 780.418.6088 to discuss participation opportunities. Please let us know at the time of registration if your child has any special needs or health concerns. Can I make up a missed class? We are not able to offer any make-up classes.

Preschool Programs

We are offering a diverse slate of preschool opportunities at Servus Place and Community Clubhouses for fall 2013. Our programs, which align with Canadian Sport for Life and the Active Start stage of development, are designed to provide activities that are both fun and recreational for toddlers and preschool children. Fun and socialization is the name of the game with a variety of programs to suit specific ages and interests. Your child will work on their Fundamental Movement Skills, including running, jumping, throwing, kicking, twisting, wheeling, catching and many more. “Physical literacy is acquiring skills and confidence that allows individuals to enjoy a variety of sports and physical activities. The most important step toward developing physical literacy is mastering fundamental movement skills.” – Canadian Sport for Life

Tumblin’ Tots

Ages 18 months - 3 years Come with your tot to this learn through play program. Enjoy leader-coordinated activities, songs, nursery rhymes, games and crafts as well as time to play with the toys in the gym. Parents must stay with the child and participate in the program. *Please note that children must be potty trained (independent in the bathroom) in order to participate in an un-parented preschool programs.

Is your little one just waiting to go to ‘school’ like their older siblings or friends? Register them in this program and give them that first ‘Playschool’ experience. We will develop different themes each week through crafts, songs, games, stories and more. Parents must stay with child and participate in the program.

Jumpin Jax

Bark in dog pose, hiss in the cobra, and meow in cat stretch. This well-rounded yoga class focuses on the physical self, including body awareness and fullness of breath. The emotional self, (including compassion for others and self-confidence,) is explored through storytelling, creative movement and simple discussions about life. Little ones are encouraged to be energetic as well as still and quiet. Yoga is about balance… what better time to learn about it but when a child is young!

Bring your fastest shoes to the Jumpin Jax program. Our skilled and experienced staff will lead your child through fun and interesting activities in both our gym and our classroom. This program is the perfect place for your child to meet new friends, participate in a variety of activities, sure to leave them with rosy cheeks.

Active Kids Preschool

Ages 3 - 4 and 4 - 5 A preschool that meets the needs of your little one with an unending amount of energy! We will spend a minimum of 1/3 of the class in the gym participating in active games and sports. The rest of the time will be spent following daily themes that will expose your child to new learning experiences through songs, music, stories, crafts and more. Join one of our community preschool programs this year. Doodles is a perfect program for a first preschool experience. Play and Learn will be the second step in preparing your child for kindergarten.

Doodles

Ages 3 - 4 Is your preschooler ready to learn and play in a fun and loving environment? Following weekly themes, children use their imagination through games, songs, stories and crafts in a softly structured class. If it meets your needs you can register for two days a week either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/ Thursday. Doodles and Play and Learn programs are located at Akinsdale Clubhouse and Lacombe Clubhouse. Community Playschool


Preschool Learn to Skate Programs

This 30 minute, 10 week program emphasizes fun and fitness while learning basic skating skills in a fun and safe atmosphere. There are 3 progressive levels that focus on different skills. Keep in mind that the level of the participants in each class will determine the progress of instruction. Every child develops at a different rate and may not progress through the levels as quickly as others, but your child will learn to be a stronger skater and improve their skating skills. Instructors are certified in Fundamental Movement Skills and all programs are held at Kinex Arena, 66 Hebert Road. Children under 3 will not be accepted into the program. Please go to the preschool programs tab on the Servus Place website (servusplace.ca) for more information on fitting skates, appropriate apparel during lessons and other important information. Note: all Learn to Sake Programs are at Kinex Arena, 66 Hebert Road. Skating - Level 1 Get Up and Go Ages 3 - 5 This class is designed for children who have no skating experience. Parents will be asked to assist their child on the ice for the first few lessons. Your child will learn that skating is fun! The focus of the class is on balance, posture, sitting down and getting up from the ice, marching/duck walk, marching the width of the ice and initiate backwards walk. Skating - Level 2 Slide and Glide Ages 3 - 5 This class is designed for children who are able to get up and move on their own. Your child will learn that skating is still fun and there is more to come! They will continue to practice balance, posture, skating the width of the ice, skating and lifting one foot up and 2-foot glides. It is important that 6 – 12 year old children engage in 60 minutes of physical activity each and every day, so join a Servus Place programs to fit in a fun hour of physical activity! In the children’s programs at Servus Place, participants will be exposed to the ABC’s of physical literacy (Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed) and will continue to build on the Fundamental movement skills that we teach in our preschool programs. Is your kid Canada’s next Top Chef? The kids will work with our staff in the Sobey’s Active Living Kitchen to prepare some basic healthy snacks, and food options; while learning food safety and proper food handling. Baby and Mama Pilates - Postnatal Pilates

Zumba Gold targets the largest growing segment of the population: baby boomers. It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness-Party is known for: the zesty Latin music, like salsa, merengue, and reggaeton; the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. Foam Roller - Workshop

The foam roller can be used as a supplement to treatment or to prevent injuries by releasing adhesions in muscles and increasing blood flow. By performing Self-Myofascial Release techniques on a simple piece of foam, you can improve flexibility, function, performance and reduce injuries. During this workshop, we will teach you how to use your own body weight to roll on the round foam roll, massaging away restrictions to normal soft-tissue extensibility. Please bring a water bottle.
