HOW TO REGISTER In the event that you must withdraw or change your program registration (at least one week prior to the program start date), you can do one of the following: All refunds and transfers within 7 days of the start date or after the program begins must be approved by a programmer and will only be done for extenuating circumstances. Please contact Guest and Member Services with all cancellation inquiries. Cancellations Programs may be cancelled due to low enrollment. In the event that a registered program is cancelled you will be notified, by phone, at least three (3) days prior to the start date. During these circumstances a full refund will be provided or you may transfer immediately into one of our available programs (subject to program availability). Register early to ensure your program runs! Frequently Asked Questions If the class is full can I go on a waiting list? Waiting lists are available for all of our classes; you will be contacted if a spot becomes available. Can I register after the program has started? We will strive to accommodate your request, please contact Guest Services at 780.418.6088. Can my child participate if they have special needs? Parents of children with special needs are encouraged to call our programming staff at 780.418.6088 to discuss participation opportunities. Please let us know at the time of registration if your child has any special needs or health concerns. Can I make up a missed class? We are not able to offer any make-up classes. Register at servusplace.ca or 780.418.6088 | 3 Preschool Programs The Servus Place Recreation team is offering a diverse slate of preschool opportunities at Servus Place and in Community Clubhouses for spring 2013. Our programs are designed to provide activities that are both fun and recreational for toddlers and preschool children. Fun and socialization is the name of the game with a variety of programs to suit specific ages and interests. The programs are divided by ages, stages and themes, parent and babies, tots, pre–preschool, active, cooking, science and playschool. You will be sure to find something that suits your child! Please note that children must be potty trained (independent in the bathroom) in order to participate in an un-parented preschool program. All programs are located at Servus Credit Union Place unless otherwise noted. Coffee & Crayons - Parented Ages 18 months - 3 years Come play and socialize with your child and fellow parents with children while participating in leadercoordinated crafts, songs, games and activities. We will spend a minimum of 1/3 of the class in the gym participating in active games and sports. The rest of the time will be spent following daily themes that will expose your child to new learning experiences through songs, music, stories, crafts and more. This preschool program is an active way to prepare your child for kindergarten. Please send your child in play clothes and indoor running shoes, more details to follow the first day of class. If your child wants or needs something to do, they can participate in these multi–activity programs to fill in that gap when school is out. Games, sports, crafts and activities will be planned throughout the day to entertain and keep your child happy and active. Children should bring: • indoor shoes • swimsuit • a water bottle • towel • appropriate clothing as required. *Please note that children may be participating in messy, hands on activities throughout the day. Children should be comfortable carrying their own belongings. Please send your child with a morning and afternoon snack (as well as one for post camp if applicable) and lunch. The children may not carry money to purchase their snacks and lunches as it is distracting to the program and eating venues are not always available for purchases. Early drop off and late pick is available for an additional $5.00 per day. Children can be dropped off as early as 8 am and picked up until 5 pm. During this additional time, programming will not occur however activities will be provided for the children to participate in. Please register for this service at time of program registration. * No class March 29 (Good Friday) Adventure Activists Chefs in the Makin’ Ages 6 - 9 Make what you eat and eat what you make. Work with our staff in the Sobeys active living kitchen to prepare some basic, healthy snacks and food options all the while learning food safety and proper food handling. The other part of the day we will wear off some of that extra energy playing games around Servus Place and at nearby parks. It’s an intense fat-burner that’s sure to build stamina and strength. The entire program features bursts of (20 seconds on 10 seconds off) of the ‘Tabata Training’ method. A simple, but powerful, fitness technique involving metabolic and anareobic threshold training. This workshop focuses on opening the hips significantly. Many of us sit or stand for the greater part of the day and this results in tense and tight hips. We tend to hold a lot of mental and emotional stress in our hips which adds to this stiffness. This workshop will work on warming the muscles and joints with its practice as well as holding the poses to allow a true stretch to release that tightness.
