Brief: Design a poster and a *threeact structure for a new SciFi film aimed at 15 35 year olds. You should aim for a 12A certificate. Your film must embody societal fears and anxieties. Your film can be a genre hybrid.

*ThreeAct Structure: Act 1 – Set up

Act 2 – Confrontation

Act 3 Resolution

Beginning of film – set the scene

Lead protagonist is forced to act – he/she is forced to confront their fears

In the final Act the protagonist is properly focused on the goal

He/she often faces obstacles along the way – people not believing their story; people wanting to stop them

The final act should build towards a climax – the high point of the story and a final encounter

He/she may be let down by people they thought they could trust

The protagonist has changed – they are not the same person as in Act One

Protagonist may confront a problem in the wrong way

They may have learned something, achieved something or satisfied a need for something

Approximately 25% of film The lead protagonist may suspect that something is wrong in Act One, but is not forced to do something until Act Two There is stasis (or equilibrium) everything seems OK in the world; however something happens (this is known as the dramatic push) that causes disequilibrium There is an incident; a flaw or violation that causes the lead protagonist to act This dramatic push signals the end of Act One – the beginning of Act Two

The protagonist may doubt his/her own abilities; they may doubt their own mental health
