20 SHANGHAI NIGHT

nOTE FROM PRESIDENT

Dear Members Happy New Year! 2016 is brimming with more exciting plans for the Club. Members might have noted on the extension work currently undergoing at Three Bars. The revamped Three Bars would have added capacity, a new wine and bistro concept. It is slated to be completed before Chinese New Year. I am pleased to announce that the CSC Open House & Staff Charity Bazaar held on 27 November was a success and a total of $10,389 was raised. I would like to thank all Club members for their generosity and support as well as the administrative staff for pooling their resources in making this event a success. Members who wish to continue to do their part for the less fortunate may adopt a CSC Sasha bear available for sale at the Front Office or Sports Reception. Swim CSC concluded the year with a triumphant splash in both the international and local meets. Once again, our budding swimmers clinched the much coveted championship title at the JIC Swimming Championships. Turn to the ensuing pages and read more coverage on swimming and other sports events. The season of Lo-Hei is here again. Toss up to prosperity over a platter of Salmon Fa Cai Yu Sheng with your loved ones. Mark your date on 20 February and bring along your family for a funfilled Spring Festival celebration with fellow Club members. With the long feasting period, it is time to regain a shapelier silhouette. The Sports & Lifestyle department has organized a line-up of fitness programmes for everyone. Sign-up for Fitness Dance, Yoga for all ages, or join us for an evening CSC Fun Run by the beach. Last but not the least, the Management Committee and Club administration would like to take this opportunity to wish all members a very Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year. May the year ahead for you and your family be filled with good health, happiness and peace. Shalom & God Bless

Edwin Lee, President

E-PUBLICATIONS SURVEY As part of the Club’s continued Go-Green efforts, the Management has reviewed the feasibility of continuing with printed Club publications, specifically the bi-monthly newsletters and Minutes of the Annual General Meeting. Moving ahead with times, the Club is exploring to publish the abovementioned publications via an online e-zine platform in 2016 which allows easy access via your electronic gadgets. The Management also notes the dwindling number in the request for the Chinese version of the bi-monthly newsletter and would consider discontinuing this publication in due course. We value members’ comments on the Club’s plans in the abovementioned to go green and to reduce cost on printed materials and would appreciate it if you would forward your comments to cscgoingonline@chineseswimmingclub.org.sg so that we could serve you better. 9

PAST HIGHLIGHTS

18TH CSC-SIA GROUP SPORTS CLUB BILATERAL GAMES CSC had the honour to host the games which attracted 170 athletes from both clubs competing in Badminton, Bowling, Golf, Snooker & Pool, Squash, Table Tennis and Tennis. The event tee-off on 4 November at Ponderosa Golf & Country Club, and the rest of the sports took place in CSC on 8 November. Despite stiff competition, CSC retained the challenge trophy by 4.5 points to 2.5 points. The competitive rivalry on the sports arena only served to strengthen the camaraderie amongst the players and it was evident in the cheerful banter during sumptuous buffet dinner served in the Activity Suite.
