The Monthly Newsletter of the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church The Monthly Newsletter of the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church

Get Connected - Get Engaged - It’s a Breeze On the Day of Pentecost, God’s Spirit blew like a mighty wind over Jesus’ disciples and set them on fire with a passion for the love of God. The Spirit blew out the windows and onto people in the street below. It enabled people to understand each other – even those who spoke entirely different languages. The Spirit created community. It brought people together. We need a church directory. We need to know each other! We need to be able to connect with others who share our interests! We just need to know how to contact other members in the church! A Breeze is blowing through CCPC. A Breeze to help us connect to each other. A Breeze to help us form greater community. A Breeze to unite our passions, or just help us get to know our church friends. After months and months of monumental effort, we have a new directory that will be online and accessible from the church’s website. The name of the directory is called Breeze and you may see it if you visit other churches’ websites. We have been testing the directory with the session and deacons and the time is coming when we go online. Details about the process will be coming soon. You will have control over what information will be available to church members. The directory will only be accessible to members. Breeze is not only a directory, it is also a database for people’s interests, skills, and passions. It can help us get engaged with our church friends. Perhaps you are interested in finding others who share your passion for seeking God in nature. Maybe you want to get connected to a Bible Study or prayer group. Over the summer, a team of folks will be helping people set up their Breeze accounts. You can set up your account yourself online (we’ll send the instructions). For those who want additional help we will have a team of people in Chadsey Hall on different Sundays throughout the summer. Get connected! Get engaged! It really is a Breeze! God’s Blessings, Molly

CCPC WORSHIP SERVICE TASK FORCE UPDATE The CCPC Worship Service Task Force Needs You! The CCPC Worship Service Task Force has been busy working toward gaining better insight into the question of “One service or two for CCPC?”

What’s been done: Table Talks & Survey

At the Congregational Meeting in February, we held Table Talks. Together, we “noticed that…” and “wondered if…” about our worship services. Church attendance, music, families/children, energy/excitement, being together/activities, liturgy and Sunday School are all very important to us. To read the survey results, visit chevychasepc.org/surveyresults. To read a summary, see chevychasepc.org/wstfs.

What happens next: Sunday | June 2 | Chadsey Hall

On Sunday, June 2nd in Chadsey Hall you will have the opportunity to speak openly with the Task Force and fellow church members about your thoughts, ideas, concerns or anxieties about the question of “one service or two for CCPC?”. The Task Force is eager to hear directly from YOU about this very important question that we as a community need to answer. Feel free to talk to any Task Force member: Molly Blythe Teichert, Julie Evans, Norman Stant, Brad Hunter, Heather Davenport, Lauren Fernandez.

DINNERS FOR EIGHT Join us for dinner on these four Saturday evenings: September 14 - October 12 - November 9 - December 14. This is a chance to get to know others in our congregation. You will dine with three different pairs each time. Cooking and hosting is shared so no one does all the work. We also help with babysitting suggestions. Each pair will serve as host and provide the main dish and beverage once. The visiting pairs will bring hors d’oeuvre and a vegetable, salad and rolls, or dessert. If you cannot make it to at least 2 dinners, consider signing up as a substitute. You will be contacted as needed. Singles are welcome! To sign up, contact Rita Hadden at rhadden@gmail.com, and give her your name, phone number, and email. Specify if you are signing up as a SUBSTITUTE. Last day for signup is August 15th.
