The City is opening the new “Spray & Play” water play ground at the Warner Park Pool on the weekends in May. The pool will open “Memorial Day” weekend.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES AT THE “SPRAY & PLAY”

“Spray & Play” HOURS of OPERATION After Memorial Day 12:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Every Monday at the “Spray & Play”

“Families After 5:00 for $5.00” Get a cool start to the week with ‘spray time’ for a group of 2 adults and 2 children for only $5.00 every Monday 5:15 to 8:00 p.m.

The Coolest Parties in Town!

THE “SPRAY & PLAY” IS AVAILABLE FOR PARTY RENTALS. The “Spray & Play” can be rented for 2 hour time slots during operating and non-operating hours.

During Operating Hours: Daily 12:30 - 5:00 p.m. and Monday - Friday 5:15 - 8:00 p.m. Rental Times: 1:00 - 3:00, 3:15 - 5:15, 5:30 - 7:30 Cost: $ 90.00 - Up to 25 guests. $3.00 for each additional guest The rental includes use of the spray ground area plus one covered picnic pavilion with picnic tables for a group for 2 hours. (Note: Everyone is welcome to stay at the Spray & Play after their 2 hour time but, the group must vacate the pavilion so others can use it.) During NON-Operating Hours: Rental Times: Saturday 10:00 – Noon Sunday 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Semi-private and private party rates apply. Contact Peggy Grall at 697-1385.

4 - Two Week Sessions June 6th - August 5th Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Cost: $75.00 per session per child or $280 per child entire summer. Swimming, the “Spray & Play”, softball, golf, arts, field trips, “Wellness YOUth” focus on healthy lifestyle activities. Lunch included! Optional Pre-Camp Tues. May 31-Fri. Chattanooga Parks & Recreation Department Drivers Education Program Summer Sessions Summer is a great time for City of Chattanooga residents ages 15 -21 to take advantage of the program that instills confidence, safety awareness, and rules of the road for new drivers offered by the City’s Traffic Engineering Department and the Haman’s New Drivers. The summer schedules are condensed into one week sessions that require participants to attend Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sessions 1 & 2: John A Patten Rec. Center 3202 Kelley Ferry Rd. (Lookout Valley) June 6-9 and June 20 -23 Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sessions 3 & 4: Greenway Farm 5051 Gann Store Rd. (Hixson) July 11 -14 and July 25 – 28 Mon – Thur 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Cost: $50.00 per session. There will be fun programs for teens at the recreation centers throughout the summer. First Things First, Donna L, and others will be offering classes, social activities, and community service fun. Don’t forget Teen Night at the Carver Pool on Fridays!

Outdoor Camps for ages 7 - 15 at Greenway Farm

The Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department is registering interested girls and boys ages 13 – 19 for the new Major League Baseball RBI Program. The season for teen leagues will begin in mid June and games will be played at the new Summit of Softball Complex. The cost is $50.00 per person and includes uniform. Call Kenneth Simpson at 355-3021. Co-sponsors of “Reviving Baseball in the Inner City” include the YMCA, Hamilton County Health Department’s “Healthy Kids-Healthy Communities” Program, the Engel Foundation, and UTC.

5150 Gann Store Rd. (Hixson, TN) 2-week long camps: June 27th - July 1st or July 25th - 29th Mountain biking, hiking, disc golf, climbing wall, canoeing, nature study, team building, and more. Tennis Camp for ages 6 - 18 at Champions Club Tennis Complex 1096 Lupton Dr. 4 – one week sessions. Monday - Friday 9:00 am to Noon Fun Instruction, skills development, & play provided by professional tennis coaches & instructors. Cost: $165.00 per person. Call Orlando Lourenco at 870-3112.

Faces of Recreation Welcome back to Shanika Freeman! Shanika played her 5th season in Kotka, Finland with the Peli-Karhut women’s professional basketball league. Before joining the City’s Recreation Division, Shanika played professional ball in Finland for 4 years. This year her team placed first in the national competition. Shanika is an alumnus of CSAS and Jacksonville State University in Alabama. She says “I am excited to be home to coach and help our kids”.

Congratulations Kiwon Toney! Kiwon recently won the US Golden Gloves National First Place Title. This young man from Brown Academy and the boxing program with the Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department is a fine example of what family, friends, and faith can mean to a young person’s success. Special thanks to the Recreation Department’s Demetrius Alexander for giving Kiwon his start and for supporting his boxing career.
