AchieveMentS ProGramaS y ServiCioS Durante el año 2015, el Centro para Puerto Rico diseñó e implementó una agenda programática extensa dirigida a satisfacer las necesidades de distintos sectores en la comunidad. A través de los programas de formación empresarial: el Programa de Capacitación Empresarial Comunitario, el Programa de Formación Empresarial para la Mujer, el Programa de Formación Empresarial para Jóvenes Adultos, el Programa de Verano Juvenil y el Centro de Recursos para el Desarrollo Empresarial, junto al Programa para el Desarrollo de Centros Tecnológicos se proveyeron servicios a sobre 774 participantes alrededor de la Isla. Un grupo de sobre100 profesionales colaboraron ofreciendo las sesiones de capacitación en los distintos programas del Centro para Puerto Rico. Sus especialidades incluyen: Contabilidad, Mercadeo, Finanzas, Servicios Legales y Sicológicos, entre otros.
proGraMS and SerVICeS During 2015, the Center for Puerto Rico designed and implemented an extensive programmatic agenda to fulfill the needs of different sectors in the community. The entrepreneurial development programs: the Community Entrepreneurial Training Program, the Entrepreneurial Training Program for Women, the Entrepreneurial Training Program for Young Adults, the Youth Summer Program and the Entrepreneurial Development Resource Center, along with the Technology Centers Development Program provided services to over 774 participants across the Island. A group of over 100 professionals collaborated offering training sessions for the diverse programs of the Center for Puerto Rico. Their areas of expertise include Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Counseling and Psychological Services, among others.

La Biblioteca y Archivo Histórico recibieron sobre 5,550 visitas del público en general, incluyendo participantes de nuestros programas y miembros de la comunidad.
The Library and Historical Archive received over 5,550 visits from the general public, including participants of our programs and community members.
En la Biblioteca, los visitantes recibieron una variedad de servicios gratuitos, incluyendo talleres y webinars, acceso a computadoras, programas y el Internet, así como a libros en temas variados en las ciencias sociales. También tuvieron apoyo del personal de servicio en la búsqueda de empleo, creación de resumes, y el desarrollo de investigaciones y propuestas.
At the Library, visitors received a variety of free services, including workshops and webinars, access to computers, software and the Internet, as well as to books on various topics in the social sciences. They also received assistance from staff in job search, writing resumes, and developing research and proposals.
El Archivo Histórico ofreció servicios de orientación, referencia y localización de documentos a investigadores. Continuando con una oferta educativa dirigida al desarrollo profesional del personal de archivos, se realizó un taller sobre preparación de propuestas de fondos con especialistas del National Historical Publications and Records Commission. Además, se han continuado los trabajos de catalogación y preservación de los documentos relacionados a los años de servicio público de la Gobernadora Calderón bajo la custodia de la organización.
The Historical Archive offered reference and document retrieval services to researchers. In keeping with previous educational events aimed at the professional development of archive’s staff, the Archive held a workshop on grant proposal writing with specialists from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. Additionally, works continued towards cataloging and preserving the documents related to Governor Calderón’s years in public service under the organization’s custody.

CreaTividad y ServiCio Durante el año 2015 el Centro para Puerto Rico abrió sus puertas para la celebración de alrededor de 300 actividades de clientes que nos confiaron sus eventos más significativos: bodas, reuniones corporativas, talleres, lanzamientos de productos, graduaciones, cumpleaños, días de logros, maratones de baile, filmaciones, visitas de dignatarios, reuniones comunitarias, reuniones sindicales y presentaciones de libros, entre otros. Comprometidos con nuestra misión de inclusión y equidad en todas nuestras acciones, es un placer extender una calurosa bienvenida a nuestros visitantes y clientes. Agradecemos el privilegio de servirles y hacer que su actividad deslumbre respondiendo a sus solicitudes con un sí podemos hacerlo.
CreatIVIty and SerVICe During 2015 the Center for Puerto Rico housed 300 activities of clients that entrusted their most significant events to us: weddings, corporate meetings, workshops, product presentations, birthday celebrations, graduations, community and labor union gatherings, achievement days, dance marathons, films, dignitary visits, book presentations and many other. Committed to our mission of inclusion and justice in all our actions, it is a pleasure to extend a warm welcome to our visitors and clients. Los donantes hicieron posible la inversión de más de tres millones de dólares en programas de capacitación empresarial para mujeres, jóvenes adultos y programas de emprenderismo para jóvenes, convirtiendo a los participantes en agentes de cambio dentro de sus comunidades marginadas. El Centro para Puerto Rico al momento no tiene fondo dotal, recauda cada dólar que invierte en combatir la pobreza en el país. Esto significa que la cantidad de personas que puede ayudar, y el alcance de la misma, depende totalmente de la generosidad de sus donantes. Gracias a la aportación de individuos comprometidos, corporaciones, fundaciones, municipios y otros, se continúa sirviendo a los residentes de las comunidades en desventaja, contribuyendo así, al desarrollo económico de Puerto Rico.

Over three million dollars were invested in entrepreneurial training programs for women and young adults, and entrepreneurship programs for teenagers, turning participants into agents of change within their underserved communities. These investments were made possible by our donors. The Center for Puerto Rico currently does not have an endowment fund. Every dollar received is invested directly towards fighting poverty in the Island. The organization depends exclusively on the generosity of its donors. As a result of the contributions from committed individuals, corporations, foundations, municipalities and others, the Center for Puerto Rico continues to serve residents of underprivileged communities, thus advancing the economic development of Puerto Rico.

Es un placer compartir los logros obtenidos en 2015 a través de este Informe Anual. La oferta programática de calidad, el compromiso de los recursos y la expectativa generada en los participantes al acceder a una oportunidad educativa que transformará sus vidas hacia la autosuficiencia, me inspira y me llena de renovada energía. El magnífico rendimiento obtenido nos lleva a continuar ampliando nuestro horizonte y cada día tocar a más hombres, mujeres y jóvenes para que retomen sus vidas dentro del marco de apoderamiento y responsabilidad ética. A pesar estos tiempos difíciles para Puerto Rico, veo entusiasmo en los residentes de comunidades y poblaciones en desventaja que se allegan al Centro para Puerto Rico, en búsqueda de una oportunidad para cambiar su destino.
It a pleasure to share with you our Annual Report detailing the achievements we have obtained during 2015. The quality of our programmatic offering, the commitment of our professors and staff, the anticipation of the participants eager for access to an educational opportunity that will transform their lives, inspires me and renews my passion for our mission. The excellent results lead us to widen our path and encourage more men and women into steering their lives towards a framework of empowerment and ethical responsibility. Despite the trying times Puerto Rico faces, I see desire in hundreds of residents of our underserved communities, that reach out to the Center for Puerto Rico, in pursuit of an opportunity to change their destiny. In this Report you will see the results of the approximately 800 hundred participants that have attended our programs in 72 municipalities, creating 403 direct and indirect jobs, and establishing 197 microenterprises.

At the Center for Puerto Rico, the operational arm of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation, we feel proud of our accomplishments during the 2015 fiscal year. Guided by of our mission, we have strengthened our programs to stimulate the island ‘s economic and social development while empowering families and underserved communities. Our entrepreneurial development programs are reaching all regions of Puerto Rico. The programs pursue to elevate women’s role in society, to develop social enterprise, support the technological reach of our communities and inspire younger populations with programs designed to serve their needs and aspirations. At the Center for Puerto Rico we feel very enthusiastic and inspired with our achievements as they have given us the opportunity to transform many lives. El año 2015 fue uno lleno de retos. No obstante, dado al esfuerzo del equipo de trabajo de Programas y Servicios, voluntarios, colaboradores y administración, en conjunto, se logró uno de los años de mayor crecimiento para la organización.
The year 2015 proved to be full of challenges. Nevertheless, the Programs and Services Administrative teams, alongside our volunteers and collaborators, were able to produce one of the Center for Puerto Rico’s most succesful fiscal years.
Este logro fue posible gracias al auspicio de donantes y contribuyentes a los cuales le agradecemos su apoyo incondicional.
This achievement was possible thanks to dedicated donors and collaborators, who unwaveringly believe in the organization. It is a privilege to have their patronage.
En la Oficina de Finanzas y Administración, se da seguimiento al cumplimiento de las estrategias a corto y largo plazo siguiendo los parámetros de integridad y verticalidad que caracterizan al Centro para Puerto Rico, así como el compromiso inviolable de rendición de cuentas a donantes y colaboradores.
The Finance and Administration Office dutifully enforces both long and short term actions in order to comply with projected goals, while upholding the ethical conduct that characterizes the organization. Accountability for all donations are provided in accordance to our compliance and transparency principles.
El plan propuesto para 2015 se cumplió y se sobrepasó en muchas áreas. Sin duda, el 2016 presenta muchos desafíos para el Centro y se encuentra preparado para enfrentarlos.

The Center for Puerto Rico surpassed the stipulated goals for the 2015 fiscal year in many areas. Undoubtedly, the current year presents great challenges and the Center is prepared to face them and to forge ahead with confidence.
