Estimados colaboradores, amigos y amigas: Es un placer dirigirme a ustedes a seis años del nacimiento de este gran proyecto a favor de los residentes de nuestras comunidades más necesitadas. Impactamos a miles de puertorriqueños y puertorriqueñas que se han acercado a la Fundación y a su brazo operacional, el Centro para Puerto Rico, para recibir las herramientas y el conocimiento para fortalecer y desarrollar iniciativas que conduzcan a vidas productivas de superación personal. Dedicamos gran parte de nuestro esfuerzo a programas relacionados a mitigar la pobreza e insertar a los residentes de las comunidades en desventaja en la economía formal de Puerto Rico. Impulsamos el cambio social que iniciamos media década atrás convirtiendo al Centro para Puerto Rico en la casa del diálogo, la educación, la investigación y la convergencia para todos y todas, independientemente de su afiliación ideológica o su condición de vida. El compromiso con nuestra misión se ha fortalecido con el trabajo incansable de un grupo de expertos, profesionales, consejeros, voluntarios y colaboradores para continuar con nuestras iniciativas dirigidas a reducir la pobreza y adelantar el rol de la mujer en la sociedad. 3

Al mirar hacia el futuro, ampliaremos nuestro campo de trabajo dentro de nuestra misión emprendiendo proyectos de revitalización urbana conjuntamente con el ofrecimiento de conferencias y talleres para fortalecer los valores éticos y la responsabilidad social. En este Informe Anual, rendimos cuentas de los logros obtenidos gracias a la inversión de empresas socialmente responsables y de personas como usted que creen y son parte del desarrollo económico y social de Puerto Rico. Chair of the Board Dear Collaborators and Friends: It is a pleasure to address you as we mark six years of the creation of this project to enhance the lives of the residents of our underserved communities. We have impacted thousands of men and women that have come to the Center for Puerto Rico in search of knowledge and competencies to build up business initiatives that will lead to financial independence and better lives. Our thrust and action continues to be directed to programs designed and created to alleviate the alarming levels of poverty that persist in our Island and insert these men and women into Puerto Rico’s formal economy where they can contribute as they experience personal gain. The Center for Puerto Rico provokes social change by fostering a meeting of the minds in a place for dialogue, knowledge, education, and research where everyone is included, regardless of creeds or affiliations. Our commitment to our mission has been strengthened by the tireless work of experts, professionals, counselors, volunteers and collaborators laboring with initiatives directed to reduce poverty and inequity and advance the role of women in society. As we look towards the future we will expand the field of work within our mission and undertake urban revitalization projects along with ethics and social responsibility workshops and seminars. This Annual Report informs you of the goals attained and made possible by the investment of socially responsible corporations and people like you, who believe and are part of the economic and social development of Puerto Rico. PRESIDENTE DE LA FUNDACIÓN SILA M. CALDERÓN Y EL CENTRO PARA PUERTO RICO

El 2014 marcó mi primer año como Presidente de la Fundación Sila M. Calderón y el Centro para Puerto Rico. Fue grato e inspirador observar y sentir de primera mano el entusiasmo y empeño del extraordinario equipo de trabajo de la Fundación y del Centro. El compromiso con el que se entregan a sus funciones para lograr un mejor país es esperanzador para todos los que nos integramos a esta ambiciosa agenda de trabajo. Con su apoyo, han hecho de mi labor directiva una más efectiva al compartir sus conocimientos y experiencias, mientras atendemos las áreas de mayor prioridad. Este primer año en funciones nos permitió delinear un abarcador plan estratégico que definió nuestras posibilidades de servicio con aquéllos a quienes procuramos transformar sus vidas. Ciertamente, perseguimos objetivos que requieren de cambios en muchos aspectos de lo que hacemos y cómo lo hacemos; esto, sin apartarnos de nuestra misión y asegurando el nivel de impacto que resulta revelador de la fortaleza de nuestros programas. Actuamos como socios en el desarrollo económico del país, por lo que la medida de nuestro desempeño lo serán las iniciativas comunitarias auto sostenibles y la creación de empleos. Durante este período, fue notable como nuestros programas alcanzaron un alto nivel de reconocimiento por su capacidad de promover el apoderamiento y la autogestión entre empresarias y líderes comunitarios. Sin embargo, observamos que el interés de los jóvenes se hacía notable y nuestra agenda programática no podía ignorar esa necesidad, por lo que comenzamos el primer Programa de Jóvenes en Emprenderismo. Desde entonces, dimos una mirada a la agenda programática para asegurar que ese segmento y otros 5

de la población en condiciones de desventaja económica también pudieran ser atendidos. No me cabe duda que la ruta que hemos trazado como equipo es la correcta, y si bien siempre habrá aprendizajes que provocarán ajustes, con el apoyo de nuestro Consejo Asesor y colaboradores, el respaldo y compromiso de nuestros donantes, y la dirección de nuestra Junta de Síndicos, haremos una importante aportación por un mejor Puerto Rico con oportunidades para todos.

President of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation and the Center for Puerto Rico The year 2014 marked the start of my journey as President of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation and the Center for Puerto Rico. It was inspiring to witness at first hand the enthusiasm, dedication and extraordinary work of the Foundation’s and the Center’s team. The commitment to their work and the contribution they make for a better Puerto Rico is uplifting for all who invest in this ambitious agenda. Their support has helped me be more effective by sharing their knowledge and experiences while we work with the areas of highest priority. This first year in office allowed us to outline a comprehensive strategic plan that defines our possibilities of service to those whom we seek to reach and transform their lives. Certainly, we pursue goals that require changes in many aspects of what we do and how we do it, focusing on our mission and ensuring a level of impact that is representative of the strength of our programs. Here at the Center, we aim to act as partners in the economic growth of Puerto Rico. The development of sustainable community initiatives and job creation are our ultimate measure of success. During this year it was remarkable to see how our programs reached a high level of recognition for their ability to promote empowerment and selfmanagement among entrepreneurs and community leaders. We also noticed how the interest of young people increased and our programs agenda could not ignore that need, so we have started the first Entrepreneurship Program for Young People in July. Since then, we have looked into all the programs agenda to ensure their inclusion and provide service to others in conditions of economic disadvantage. I have no doubt that the path that we have set as a team is the correct one, and although there will always be learning experiences that will require adjustments, with the support of our Advisory Board and staff, the commitment of our donors, and the direction of our Board of Trustees, we will make a significant contribution for a better Puerto Rico with opportunities for all.

Calderón, la Junta de Directores y los miembros del Consejo Asesor Programático tienen décadas de experiencia combinada forjando iniciativas de desarrollo económico y comunitario. Todos llevan a cabo sus trabajos ad honorem.

Leaving Footprints The Sila M. Calderón Foundation is a non profit organization founded in Puerto Rico in 2005. Former Governor Sila M. Calderón, its Board of Trustees and Programmatic Advisory Council members have decades of combined experience in community and economic development initiatives. They all carry out their work ad honorem. El Centro para Puerto Rico es la sede y el brazo operacional de la Fundación Sila M. Calderón. Es un centro de diálogo, educación, investigación y convergencia que abre sus puertas a todos y todas, independientemente de su afiliación ideológica o su condición de vida. The Center for Puerto Rico is the headquarters and the operational arm of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation. It is a center for dialogue, education, research, and convergence, open to everyone, regardless of their ideological affiliation or social condition. 7

capacitaciÓn para el desarrollo de iniciativas comunitarias El Programa fue diseñado para proveer capacitación, recursos, asistencia técnica, dirección y apoyo a grupos de base comunitaria y a organizaciones sin fines de lucro, en la creación y fortalecimiento de iniciativas empresariales. El objetivo principal es el fortalecimiento y la sustentabilidad de dichos grupos a través del desarrollo de sus iniciativas. En el año 2014, el Programa graduó 230 participantes de 22 municipios. El currículo incluyó los siguientes temas: desarrollo y autogestión comunitaria, fundamentos de desarrollo económico comunitario, manejo y resolución de conflictos, plan estratégico y plan de negocio, entre otros.

Capacity Building Program for the Development of Community Initiatives The Program was designed to provide training, resources, technical assistance, direction and support for community-based and nonprofit organizations in the development of entrepreneurial initiatives. Its main objective is the strengthening and sustainability of underserved communities through the development of initiatives. In 2014, the Program graduated 230 participants from 22 municipalities. The curriculum included the following topics: development and community selfmanagement, fundamentals of community economic development, management and resolution of conflicts, strategic and business plans, among others.

FORMACIÓn empresarial para la mujer Desde sus inicios en el año 2010, el Programa fue diseñado para fomentar el desarrollo económico de mujeres que desean adquirir las destrezas necesarias para desarrollar una idea de negocio o fortalecer un negocio existente. El componente curricular consiste de 16 conferencias y talleres de temas que incluyen la perspectiva de la mujer en los negocios, aspectos de salud y la elaboración del plan de negocios, entre otros. El programa ofrece, además, eventos especiales como mercados verdes y bazares empresariales que proveen a las participantes la oportunidad de vender y mercadear sus productos o servicios. Durante el año 2014, el programa graduó 204 mujeres de 54 municipios.

Este año, el Programa graduó 204 participantes, creando o fortaleciendo 136 empleos. El 19 de julio de 2014, para complementar el componente de salud del Programa, se celebró la 1a Feria de Salud a la que asistieron 140 mujeres. El propósito de dicha actividad fue proveer a participantes de los programas y a la comunidad en general, charlas informativas relacionadas a temas de salud y acceso a clínicas especializadas libres de costo. “El apoyo técnico que recibí del equipo de trabajo del Centro para Puerto Rico, ha sido la piedra angular para el desarrollo de mi empresa.” Ana M. EMPRESARISMO Y DESARRROLLO COMUNITARIO Entrepreneurship and Community Development

Entrepreneurial Training Program for Women Launched in 2010, this program was designed for the economic development of women that want to acquire the necessary skills for the development of a business initiative or the strengthening of an existing business. The curricular component consists of 16 sessions and workshops on topics that include gender perspective in business, health issues, and the elaboration of the business plan, among others. The program also offers special events like green markets and entrepreneurial bazaars that provide participants the opportunity to sell and promote their products or services. During 2014, the program graduated 204 women from 54 municipalities.

This year, the Program graduated 204 participants, creating or strengthening 136

jobs.

On July 19, 2014, the First Health Fair was held to complement the health component of the Program with an attendance of 140 women. This activity achieved its goal of providing participants of our programs and members of the community, orientation related to health issues and access to cost-free specialized clinics. â&#x20AC;&#x153;The technical support I received from the staff of the Center for Puerto Rico has been the keystone for the development of my business.â&#x20AC;? desarrollo de CENTROS TECNOLÓgicos El Programa tiene como propósito primordial reducir la brecha digital en los sectores desaventajados del País donde existen Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios (CTC’s). Ofrece capacitación, asistencia técnica, dirección, acompañamiento y acceso a recursos y a organizaciones comunitarias que administran sus centros tecnológicos. El Programa promueve que los participantes desarrollen estrategias para convertir los centros tecnológicos en empresas sustentables, implementen programas y servicios, promuevan la creación de empleos y se conecten con otros Centros y con expertos en comunicaciones y tecnología, creando lazos con recursos externos en los ámbitos públicos y privados. En junio de 2014 se llevó a cabo el 4to Encuentro de Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios en el que participaron 129 personas de 18 municipios. Expertos en el área de la tecnología ofrecieron talleres alrededor del tema principal: Reduciendo la brecha digital y promoviendo el desarrollo económico a través de los CTC’s en Puerto Rico. Durante el año corriente, un nuevo ciclo de capacitación del Programa comenzó con 50 participantes de 10 Centros Tecnológicos de los siguientes municipios: Isabela, Juana Díaz, Mayagüez, Ponce, Rincón y San Germán.

Technology Centers Development Program The Program has as its primary purpose the reduction of the digital gap in underserved sectors that have Community Technology Centers (CTC’s). It offers community organizations that manage technology centers training, technical assistance, guidance, support and access to resources. Its curriculum includes topics such as the preparation of strategic and business plans, proposal writing, entrepreneurial organizational models, community development and selfgovernance, among others. The program encourages participants to develop strategies that will convert the technology centers into sustainable enterprises, to implement programs and services, promote jobs creation and connect with other technology centers and experts in communications, thus creating links with external resources in the public and private sectors. In 2014 the Center for Puerto Rico held the 4th Summit of Community Technology Centers with the participation of 129 persons from 18 municipalities. Experts in technology offered workshops around the main theme: Reducing the digital gap and promoting the economic development through the CTCs in Puerto Rico. During the current year, a new program training cycle began with 50 participants from 10 Technology Centers from the following municipalities: Isabela, Juana Díaz, Mayagüez, Ponce, Rincón y San Germán. 13

VERANO JUVENIL El Programa tiene como objetivo promover la creatividad, innovación y cultura emprendedora en jóvenes de 14 a 17 años de edad. Además, fomenta el desarrollo de destrezas de vida como lo son el liderazgo, la comunicación y la responsabilidad social, entre otros. En su primer ciclo, el Programa contó con 34 participantes de los siguientes municipios: San Juan, Toa Baja, Carolina, Trujillo Alto, Bayamón, Guaynabo, Cayey, Dorado, Morovis y Utuado. Su currículo integró 9 talleres dinámicos y 4 visitas educativas a diferentes empresas. “Aprendí a trabajar en equipo, a fomentar mi creatividad, a desarrollar un plan de vida, a cooperar con los demás y, sobre todo, a ser un líder en mi escuela y en mi comunidad” Participante del Programa Juvenil

Youth Summer Program The Program’s objective is the promotion of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial culture in teenagers 14 to 17 years of age. It also promotes the development of life skills such as leadership, communication, and social responsibility, among others. In its first cycle, the program served 34 participants from the following municipalities: San Juan, Toa Baja, Carolina, Trujillo Alto, Bayamón, Guaynabo, Cayey, Dorado, Morovis and Utuado. The curriculum integrated 9 dynamic workshops and 4 educational visits to different businesses.

CENTRO DE RECURSOS PARA EL DESARROLLO EMPRESARIAL El Centro de Recursos es una unidad creada para respaldar y fortalecer las destrezas y talentos de los participantes de nuestros programas. Su objetivo primordial es poner al servicio de los participantes recursos que promuevan el máximo potencial y crecimiento de sus iniciativas empresariales o comunitarias. Entre sus ofrecimientos, se encuentran el acompañamiento, educación suplementaria, apoyo técnico en áreas específicas de necesidad y acceso a recursos a través de alianzas estratégicas. Colaboradores como la Clínica Legal de Desarrollo Económico Comunitario de la Escuela de Derecho de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, nos permiten asistir a los participantes en áreas especializadas. Durante el 2014, el Centro colaboró con 57 participantes egresados, a través de toda la Isla. 15

Entrepreneurial Development Resource Center The Resource Center is a unit created to support and strengthen the skills and talents of our programs’ participants. Its main objective is to provide participants with resources that promote the maximum potential and growth of their business initiatives. Offerings include guidance and accompaniment, supplementary education, technical support in specific areas of need, and access to resources through strategic alliances. Collaborators, such as the Legal Assistance Clinic for Community Economic Development from the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Law, allow us to assist participants in specialized topics. During 2014, the Center collaborated with 57 graduates from around the Island.

BIBLIOTECA La Biblioteca de la Fundación Sila M. Calderón ofrece servicios de información a la comunidad a través de colecciones especializadas, acceso a Internet y otras tecnologías modernas que promueven la investigación y el desarrollo de proyectos comunitarios. Durante el año 2014, la Biblioteca recibió cerca de 5,600 visitas, incluyendo estudiantes, miembros y líderes de la comunidad, participantes de nuestros programas, investigadores, entre otros. La Biblioteca brinda apoyo en el desarrollo de destrezas para la redacción de propuestas e investigación de fuentes de fondos; promueve el diálogo a través de presentaciones de libros e investigaciones; contribuye a reducir la brecha digital en las comunidades a través de servicios de consulta y referencia, acceso a computadoras para uso público y una biblioteca virtual de libre acceso. En el año 2011 se creó el Consorcio de Bibliotecas Electrónicas, una red de apoyo entre Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios en Puerto Rico con el fin de maximizar oportunidades y compartir recursos para reducir la brecha digital. El Consorcio cuenta con el portal cibernético (www.ctcpr.org) como punto de encuentro e intercambio de información entre los participantes. Durante este periodo, 18 Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios de municipios alrededor de la Isla participaron de esta iniciativa.

Library The Library of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation offers information services to the community through specialized collections, access to Internet and other new technologies that encourage the research and the development of community projects. During 2014, the Library received nearly 5,600 visits, including students, community members and leaders, participants of the Center’s programs, and researchers, among others. The Library provides support in the development of skills for grant writing and research of funding sources; promotes dialogue through book presentations and research projects; contributes to reduce the digital gap in communities through free consultation and referral services, and public access to computers and the virtual library. In 2011, the CPPR created the Electronic Libraries Consortium, a support network among Community Technology Centers in Puerto Rico that seeks to maximize opportunities and share resources with the aim of reducing the digital gap. The Consortium promotes the use of the www.ctcpr.org website, a venue for communication and the exchange of information among participants. During this period, 18 Community Technology Centers from municipalities around the Island participated in this initiative.

ARCHIVO HISTÓrico

El Archivo de la Fundación Sila M. Calderón alberga un variado acervo documental que da cuenta del legado de la Gobernadora Calderón durante sus años como servidora pública. Contiene documentos y actas gubernamentales organizadas en más de 20,000 expedientes. Además, acopio de libros, periódicos, revistas, informes, más de 45,000 fotos impresas, cerca de 5,000 imágenes digitales, unos 6,000 videos, y más de 22,000 cassettes de audio que contienen entrevistas y sonidos de intervenciones en la radio. También contiene memorabilia, distinciones y obsequios otorgados a la Gobernadora Calderón a lo largo de su gestión pública. Para mantenerse a la par con la evolución de la tecnología y mejorar el acceso a sus colecciones, algunos de los documentos de mayor consulta ya están en proceso de digitalización y se planifica la digitalización de formatos en desuso; proyectos desarrollados con la colaboración de distintas organizaciones. Durante el 2014, se completó un proyecto para digitalizar 613 planes de desarrollo de las Comunidades Especiales de Puerto Rico que forman parte de nuestra colección documental. Este proyecto, auspiciado por el Programa ADAI del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte de España, ayudará a mejorar el acceso a uno de los grupos de documentos más consultados. Además, continuamos con la entrada de datos para la preparación de instrumentos de búsqueda que faciliten la investigación. El Archivo recibió

en 2014 cerca de 80 visitas para investigación y orientación. 19

Historic Archive The Archive of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation holds a wide array of documents that account for the legacy of Governor Calderón during her years in public service. The Archive keeps government-related documents and records divided into more than 20,000 files. Additionally, it keeps books, newspapers, magazines, reports, over 45,000 photos on print, about 5,000 digital images, 6,000 videos, and more than 22,000 audio cassettes containing interviews and radio sound bites. There is also memorabilia, gifts and recognitions granted to Governor Calderón throughout her career. Keeping pace with technology advances and in order to enhance access to its collections, some of the most frequently used documents are undergoing digitalization, and there are plans to digitalize obsolete formats; projects developed in collaboration with various organizations. During 2014, a project was completed to digitize 613 Special Communities’ development plans that are part of our documentary collection. This project, sponsored by the ADAI Program of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain, will enhance access to one of our most studied group of documents. Furthermore, we continued the necessary data entry in order to prepare finding tools that will facilitate research. In 2014, the Archive received about 80

visits for guidance and reference.

El Centro para Puerto Rico incorpora, dentro de su agenda programática, temas relacionados al urbanismo. El propósito es compartir conocimiento sobre los beneficios de la planificación y convivencia, promover prácticas sustentables de desarrollo urbano y crear conciencia sobre la necesidad de mantener un balance entre lo urbano y el entorno natural. El Centro ofrece recursos informativos y apoya la investigación sobre el tema a través de las colecciones de su Biblioteca y Archivo histórico. Además, por medio de los programas, ofrece actividades educativas a líderes, empresarios y profesionales. De igual forma, persigue el establecimiento de alianzas que permitan el desarrollo de propuestas y proyectos que fomenten el desarrollo urbano sustentable en comunidades en desventaja.

Urban Revitalization The Center for Puerto Rico incorporates topics related to urbanism in its programmatic agenda. The purpose is to share knowledge about planning principles and coexistence, promote sustainable urban development practices and raise awareness of the need for maintaining a balance between urban and natural environments. The Center provides information resources and supports research on urbanism through its collections in the Library and Historic Archive. Moreover, it offers educational activities to professionals, community leaders and entrepreneurs through its various programs. Furthermore, it aims to establish partnerships to develop proposals and projects that promote sustainable urban development in underserved communities.

VALORES Éticos y responsabilidad social La agenda programática del Centro para Puerto Rico tiene como prioridad incorporar los temas de valores éticos y responsabilidad social en su componente curricular y práctico. Las actividades educativas y campañas de servicio público resaltan la importancia de los valores y la responsabilidad social de los seres humanos para con el resto de la sociedad, especialmente con los más desventajados. El Consejo Asesor participa activamente en el desarrollo de iniciativas relacionadas a ambas áreas.

Ethical Values and Social Responsibility The programmatic agenda of the Center for Puerto Rico has as its priority the incorporation of topics related to ethics and social responsibility in its curricular and practical components. Educational activities and publicity campaigns focus on the importance of values and the social responsibility of human beings towards the rest of society, especially the most disadvantaged. The Advisory Council actively participates in the development of initiatives related to both areas.

FINANzaS Concluimos exitosamente el año 2014 con un crecimiento continuo de nuestros programas y servicios, donde logramos impactar a personas y comunidades desventajadas alrededor de toda la isla. A pesar de las dificultades financieras que enfrenta el país, observamos un aumento en la solicitud de nuestros servicios; debido a que éstos promueven la capacitación empresarial, autogestión, creación de empleos y desarrollo económico. Conforme a las iniciativas del Plan Estratégico continuamos mejorando las finanzas de la Fundación: logrando alcanzar mayores eficiencias operacionales, fortaleciendo la estructura administrativa, maximizando la utilización del capital humano, actualizando la tecnología, optimizando los recursos presupuestarios y el control del gasto, para así alcanzar la sustentabilidad económica. Durante este año reenfocamos los esfuerzos en fortalecer nuestra sustentabilidad mediante la diversificación de las fuentes de recaudos. Evidencia de ello queda reflejado en el aumento de propuestas estatales y federales, ampliación en la base de los donantes, aumento en las actividades especiales y en el arrendamiento de las instalaciones. Nos complace informar el impacto positivo de nuestros programas en cada individuo y comunidad, ya que ello forma parte esencial de nuestro compromiso de fomentar una sociedad activa, integrada y productiva. Claramente, ello ha sido posible gracias al marcado crecimiento en el número de participantes, colaboradores y voluntarios. Por lo cual, le exhortamos a continuar apoyándonos en nuestro esfuerzo hacia el bien común y la transformación de nuestra sociedad.

FINANZAS Finances

Finances During 2014 we experienced continued growth of our programs and services. Despite Puerto Rico’s financial difficulties, we observed growth in the demand for our offerings; because these promote business development training, selfemployment, job creation and economic development. As part of the Strategic Plan’s initiatives we continue improving our finances to attain greater operational efficiencies, strengthen the administrative structure, maximize the use of human capital, upgrade our information technology, optimize budget resources, and control spending making viable the achievement of our economic sustainability. This year we refocused our efforts on our sustainability through diversification of sources of revenues. Evidence of this is the increased amount of state and federal proposals, broadening the base of donors, and the higher number in special activities and rental of our facilities. We are pleased to report the positive impact of our programs in each individual and community as this is an essential part of our commitment. Clearly, these results have been possible thanks to the strong growth in the number of donors, participants, supporters and volunteers. Therefore, we encourage you to continue supporting us in this worthy effort for the common good and the transformation of our society. Programmatic Advisory Council The Programmatic Advisory Council of the Center for Puerto Rico is composed of experienced professionals in the organization’s focus areas. Community leaders, researchers and academics, as well as businessmen, students and volunteers are part of this group of experts. They bring knowledge and experience in favor of the development of our programs and services, and special projects. Nuestros objetivos de desarrollo económico se centran en nuestros imperativos estratégicos y en cómo tener el mayor impacto en las vidas de las personas. Es por ello que, en la Fundación Sila M. Calderón, estamos profundamente agradecidos por cada contribución económica y por la labor desinteresada de nuestros voluntarios. Cada colaboración es una inversión en el arduo trabajo que crea oportunidades de crecimiento personal y de autogestión. Recibimos aportaciones de individuos, corporaciones, fundaciones, municipalidades y las subvenciones federales para cumplir nuestra visión de promover una sociedad integrada y productiva, que resulte en una mejor calidad de vida en Puerto Rico a través del entendimiento, el respeto y más oportunidades para todos. El Centro para Puerto Rico organiza diferentes actividades de recaudación de fondos para adelantar, igualmente, su gestión social. Una de éstas fue el Concierto de Navidad, donde disfrutamos de las hermosas voces de Chucho Avellanet, Andy Montañez y Danny Rivera con la Orquesta Filarmónica bajo la dirección del Maestro Cuco Peña; una noche de magia, música y tradición puertorriqueña. Como se cita comúnmente, “la

caridad alivia el sufrimiento de los problemas sociales, mientras el altruismo intenta resolver estos problemas de raíz”. Damos la bienvenida y agradecemos
