A great place to study At the Central Coast Community College, we want every student who comes through our doors to not only succeed, but to do better than they thought they could. You should leave us prepared for further education, university or a job in your chosen field. We are a small, friendly and supportive college, that believes in not only helping you achieve excellent qualifications, but developing you as an individual to face your future. Our facilities are continually being improved. We have recently invested in a new beauty salon and nail studio, as well as upgrading our IT facilities.

The College is changing, and we are here to help you do the same. Our vision is your vision and we will help you to be ‘who you want to be!’ We look forward to meeting you.

Facilities and Transport Facilities

Getting to the College

Central Coast Community College is located on the University of Newcastle Campus, Ourimbah.

Getting to the College is easy. There is ample parking on Campus and there are regular bus and train services to Ourimbah. Ourimbah Rail Station is located within a short 10 minute walk from our facility, and buses stop within the grounds of the campus.

The College houses specialised training rooms that include a purpose built simi-lab for Aged Care, a Beauty & Nail Salon, a Massage Clinic, computer labs and modern teaching aids available in all classrooms. Our students have access to the facilities on the University Campus, including use of the library, cafes and the main cafeteria, medical services and the Co-op Book Shop and the College Beauty Salon. Students travel to the College from around the Central Coast, as well as the outer lying areas of Newcastle and Sydney.

In peak student times, a shuttle bus transports students from an overflow car park back to the grounds of the campus.

Accounting and Finance Are you looking to work in the financial services sector? Certificate III in Accounts Administration is an ideal starting point and pathway into further studies, or to assist your career. Once qualified, future job roles could include an accounts officer or a payroll clerk with duties including financial data entry, processing accounts and payrolls, providing customer service in financial transactions and producing reports.

FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting This qualification reflects accounting job roles in financial services and other industries requiring accounting support functions. Individuals in these roles apply theoretical and specialist knowledge and skills to work autonomously and exercise judgement in completing routine and non-routine activities. Students will have learned how to apply the fundamental accounting skills and manage a computerised accounting system. This qualification covers workers in roles such as: Bookkeeper, Trainee Accountant and Payroll Clerk.

FNS40215 Certificate IV In Bookkeeping If being an accounts supervisor or bookkeeper sounds appealing, then this is the course for you! The successful completion of this qualification could lead to employment in a bookkeeping role with functions that include the preparation and lodgement of Business & Instalment Activity Statements (BAS).

Aged Care and Disability CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support This flexible qualification gives you the option of choosing one of three specialisations, allowing you to gain entry into the industry of your choice. The course reflects the role of carers and support people in the aged care, disability or home and community care environment. It focuses on giving you the care/support centred work skills that are practical, and can help you find work as a Care Assistant, Respite Worker, Home care Assistant or Disability Worker. This qualification replaces the Certificate III in Aged Care, Certificate III in Disability and the Certificate III in Home and Community Care.

The College has a purpose built ‘simi lab’ where you will participate in practical lessons, giving you the knowledge and confidence needed prior to starting the work experience elements of the course.

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support This qualification is the ideal way to extend your existing skills and knowledge in the aged care industry or to gain entry into the industry. This course reflects the role of carers/support workers in residential, home or community based environments and will teach you to manage activities relating to maintaining an individual’s wellbeing through personal care.

CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability Certificate IV in Disability is a fantastic way to begin your career in the disability industry. This course reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, and teaches you to provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, selfreliance, community participation and wellbeing.

Is the beauty industry calling you? This course is designed to give students the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure they succeed. You will learn how to enhance nail appearance, style nails, sell nail products and understand the safety practices involved. On completion, you will be qualified to work in nail bars, salons, day spas, hair salons or even start your own business!

SIB30110 Certificate III in Beauty Services Now is the time to advance your career in the beauty industry by learning to provide a range of

beauty services including make-up, waxing, nail technology, lash and brow treatments. You will also be equipped to sell retail skin care and other cosmetic products. Following successful completion of this qualification, you could provide beauty services at pharmacies, retail beauty departments, and beauty salons.

SIB40110 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy This Certificate covers a range of core subjects including skin biology, waxing, body structures, beauty procedures, facial treatments, make-up, manicure and pedicure, and body massage. It will equip you to work as a skilled beautician in the beauty industry.

SIB50110 Diploma of Beauty Therapy You will learn advanced beauty techniques in facial massage, body massage, hair removal, spa treatments, lash & brow treatments, nail technology services, make-up and aromatherapy. In addition, you will be equipped to provide advice on beauty treatments and services, sell retail skin care and cosmetic products. The Diploma of Beauty Therapy can lead to employment as a beauty therapist in day spas and beauty salons.

HLT42015 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy This is the first step in your career as a massage therapist and provides the foundation for further studies in the massage field. Clinic days are also incorporated into this program. On completion, you will be able to work as a massage therapist at day spas and health retreats, as an independent contractor or open your own massage business.

HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage A natural progression from the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy this qualification provides training in all aspects of remedial massage including massage therapy, lymphatic drainage, deep tissue massage, and treatment for athletes and patients with chronic disease. The Diploma of Remedial Massage will also provide instruction on structural aligning, professional practice, anatomy and physiology, and operating a clinic. Students will participate in clinics to meet the Diploma requirements. This is a great qualification to get you started in a career in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

This course is designed to provide workplace trainers, assessors and personnel with vocational education and training with a range of training and assessment skills and knowledge.

You will learn how to use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint in a business context. In addition, you will gain skills in website development, multimedia, social media and computer maintenance. On completion, you will have all the skills you need to work effectively in an ICT environment.

You can select to enrol either into the full TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment program, and upgrade program, relevant skill sets or individual units, relevant to your requirements. Also available by distance study, this is the qualification you need to teach in training organisations such as community colleges and TAFE.

Essential Information Course Completion Guarantee We understand that when students enrol in a study program, it is a reasonable expectation they will be able to complete that program and gain the qualification. Our commitment is that we make every reasonable effort to ensure that if a student enrols with us they can complete the study program. Should circumstances arise beyond our control which affect our ability to continue a course, such as a trainer falling ill or resigning unexpectedly and we are unable to source a suitable replacement immediately; or when continuing student numbers fall too low; in these circumstances, the College guarantees that we will: i) refund any fees paid for modules or units we have not delivered ii) issue Statements of Attainment for all the work successfully completed iii) assist the student to locate an equivalent course with another Registered Training Organisation

Fee Assurance The College is required to protect fees paid in advance for nationally recognised training. To meet this regulation, the College may accept payment of no more than $1,500 from individuals prior to the commencement of their course. Following course commencement, the College may require payment of additional fees in advance from the student but only such that at any given time, the total amount required to be paid which is attributable to tuition or other services yet to be delivered to the student does not exceed $1,500. For information relating to specific qualifications and payment schedules please refer to the College website or contact the College on (02) 4348 4300. Notifying fees and charges i) Students and/or their employers are to be advised of any fees, charges and resource costs relating to their study program prior to or at the time of enrolment. Payment arrangements are aligned to courses and may vary depending upon factors such as length of course, student cohort, government contract guidelines etc. ii) The College advises its fees, charges and resource costs in promotional materials such as course guides and information packages, on the College’s website, in quotes for industry training, and in pre-course invoices. iii) Students and/or their employers engaged in training funded by State or Commonwealth Government programs, will be made aware of this at the time of enrolment, as well as any additional fees applicable such as administration fees or

resource costs. iv) Fees and charges are non-transferable to other students or other institutions. Administration and resource charges i) These may include non-refundable administration and enrolment fees, essential learning resources, mandatory uniform garments, consumable items, text books, photocopying, additional copies or re-issue of qualifications and academic transcripts. ii) Additional charges may also apply, including follow up charges associated with late or non-payment, overdue fees, dishonoured cheque fees. iii) Any equipment/property either purchased separately by the student or paid for as part of materials fees becomes the property of the student. Payment plans Financially disadvantaged students may enter into a payment plan with the College after approval by the Executive Director. Wherever practicable, the College prefers that the PaySmart system is used to manage payment plans. Student Fees for NSW Smart and Skilled Programs i) The College is required to charge a standard student fee to all students that qualify for NSW Smart and Skilled Funded Programs in line with the Department of Industry’s prescribed fees at the time that a Smart and Skilled funded program commences. This fee is invoiced to the student. ii) Fee exemptions or concessions apply to students deemed eligible under the NSW Smart and Skilled student eligibility guidelines and will be required to provide additional evidence to support their application for exemption or concession. iii) The availability of funded places is limited and it is the College’s responsibility to administer these programs and for availability of places under the NSW Smart and Skilled Funded Programs. iv) Payment arrangements are available and will vary according to the qualification applied for and the prescribed fees at the time that a Smart and Skilled funded program commences. All payment arrangements must be adhered to otherwise students will not be allowed to continued attending class or practicum. Concession and Exemption Fees for NSW Smart and Skilled Funded Programs Nothing to Pay (Fee Exemption) If you are:


• Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander • A student with a Disability • A dependent child, spouse or partner of someone in receipt of a Disability Support Pension Then you will be entitled to receive your qualification free of charge. If you begin another qualification in the same year then you will be charged a small fee, known as a concession fee. However, if you begin another qualification in the following year there will be no fees to pay.

Debt Recovery Fees and charges that remain unpaid after 90 days from the due date may be referred to a debt collection agency.

Concession You will be entitled to receive a concession on the price of your qualification if you are; • Long Term Unemployed (Over 52 weeks) • Disabled • Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander The concession fees are as follows: • Foundation - $80 • Certificate I - $120 • Certificate II - $160 • Certificate III and IV - $240 • Diploma and Advanced Diploma – No concessions However, Aboriginal and Disabled learners will only have to pay a fee if they begin a second qualification in the same calendar year. Administration Fees for funded Community Obligation Programs Students accessing funded Community Obligation programs must contribute a nominal fee towards the cost of administering the program and their enrolment. Fee concessions or exemptions may apply to students deemed eligible under the NSW Smart and Skilled student eligibility guidelines and will be required to provide additional evidence to support their application for exemption or concession.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) If you are enrolled in an accredited course, you have the opportunity to apply to have your current skills and knowledge recognised. RPL is an assessment process, which acknowledges skills and knowledge gained through life and work experience, previous training and formal education. It focuses on what you can do, rather than on how, when or where you undertook your studies. RPL includes the initial provision of information, support and counselling, formal application, assessment, post-assessment guidance and certification for successful students.

Non-payment of fees All fees and charges must be paid by the due date in order to prevent: i) suspension from attending or participating in the course; ii) exclusion from assessment activities; iii) withholding of qualification and academic record; iv) termination of the enrolment; v) exclusion from any future enrolments at the College.

Recognising what you already know Credit Transfer We will grant credit transfer if you have already gained parts of your qualification elsewhere by recognising any AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other registered training organisations.

Issuance of Testamurs A ‘testamur’ is an official certification confirming that a qualification has been awarded to an individual. A student who has successfully completed all of the required units of competency or modules (as specified in the Training Package qualification or accredited course) is entitled to receive, on award of the qualification, a testamur and a record of results. We issue these within 28 days of completion as defined above. Additional copies or re-issue of qualifications and academic transcripts may incur an administration charge. Getting extra help and support We aim to provide as much support as possible within our resources for you to achieve your qualification or statement of attainment. If you need assistance, we may offer you counselling and learning support (such as literacy and numeracy studies, additional coursework or coaching). In some cases, you may need to pay an additional fee for these services. Some accredited courses require you to have well developed language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills. We offer LLN programs to assist if you need extra support. Other student support services available at the Ourimbah campus include the Information Resource Centre, counsellor, on campus Doctor and Chaplain.

Payment arrangements i) Irrespective of the availability and receipt of government subsidies by an employer, school, or student, it is a requirement of the College that where enrolment fees, administrative charges or other charges are applicable, these must be paid by the specified due dates. ii) Payment may be made by EFTPOS, money order, direct bank deposit, credit card, bank cheque or personal cheque.
