I started raising registered simmental cattle in 1992 and strictly 85% of my bulls worked on building a good cow herd for several years prior to selling bulls. I feel sold to that this was a good decision. Build a great herd then start marketing quality bulls. repeat customers Buying the best bull or bulls you can will pay big dividends, not just down the road but even on your first set of calves from those sires. A poor bull will set your program back for several years. Some breeders say this might be, or could be or maybe the best set of bulls they have ever offered. Well, without a doubt this “is the best group of bulls I have ever raised!” The red and red blaze bulls have always been my strongest set and they are even stouter, thicker and soggier than ever The fullbloods are more consistent and have great structure and pigmentation. The black bulls are unbelievably better. They have moderate birthweights, are stout, thick, hairy, good footed, small heads, and heavy weaning weights. The RWR Eastwood 25F calves are explosively good and must be seen to be appreciated. The Zoro and Colossus bulls fit right in. There are many heifers in the replacement pen that are phenomenal. I knew 007 was special the moment he stood up. What has impressed me even more is that he continues to improve every day. He is moderate in height, long-bodied, wide-topped, bold sprung in his middle third, deep bodied front to back, has a real square stance on very correct feet and legs. Real clean fronted, with good neck extension and a beautiful head. His feet are so good, I’ve been asked if I had them trimmed. The answer is “NO.” 007 is seamlessly constructed from the ground up and from nose to the end of his big hip and butt. Had shows not been cancelled last fall, he would have been out in public at several shows. What would I change about him, “NOTHING!” He is definitely the best bull I’ve ever raised and will have a positive impact on this already great breed! Will be keeping 100 straws for in-herd use only.

It’s hard for any bull to follow the footsteps of 007 but Steele is doing one heck of a good job. As you will see by my footnotes these RWR Eastwood 25F calves are really something. Steele is moderate in frame but real stout, bold in his middle third, deep flanked, clean fronted and has that small but beautiful head as all the Eastwood calves have. His feet and legs are great. His dam had my lead off black bull a year ago which was her first calf and now she brings another bell ringer to this year’s sale. Her udder is flawless. Chiseled is very correct in his structure, bold in his middle third, wide topped, moderate in frame, nice fronted, correct feet and legs and has a phenomenal dam. He is also seamless all the way through and if you were going to put a halter on one of the red bulls he’d be real high on the list. I put 12H and 38H on the same page because these two bulls should be a couple of the best red heifer bulls to sell this spring. When I bought their sire I was looking for a heifer bull with a lot of calving ease but also tremendous quality. That is a hard combination to find. Even though Mcintosh Gunman sold in the middle of his sale he turned out to be the high selling ($25,000) bull. I thought I’d get him bought for about half that amount with his position in the sale and the lead off bull bringing $11,000 but I guess I wasn’t the only one looking for a bull that good with so much calving ease and Gunman sure has lived up to my expectation. Both were born unassisted to first calf heifers and each weighed 81 lbs. The dam to lot 32 is the granddam to lot 36, and yes the dam to lot 36 is a beautiful young cow with a great future. The dam to lot 35 is every bit as good. Those are two of the best young red cows here. Both 12H and 38H have tremendous calving ease, quality and beautiful, great uddered young mothers. When first calf heifers can raise calves like these you know you’re in the right breed!
