4-H Alberta inspires, educates and develops Members who are outstanding rural and urban youth, leaders and engaged citizens. Members learn to do by doing dynamic projects, programs and community service. In honoring our rural roots we continue to recognize the importance of agriculture in Alberta.

Welcome!

On behalf of the Vegreville 4-H Beef club I’d like to take the time to invite you to our annual show and sale.

Over the last 7 months, our members have spent countless hours of hard work and patience with their projects to produce the best top quality beef on the market from their family farms. Everyday our members are following the motto “Learn to do by doing’’ practising these skills to become successful cattle producers.

This year our club has 19 top quality steers for sale, 4 heifers, 1 two year old cow/calf pair, 1 three year old cow/calf pair, 1 novice beef project, as well as 7 cleaver calves participating in the show.

My Name is Chase Forsyth. This is my fourth year in 4-H but first year with the Vegreville Club. Standing beside me is by Show Steer Teddy. He is a home raised medium frame Commercial Simmental Steer that is eating Country Junction Jr Show Finisher. Just like any other guy he likes a nice meal, a scratch on the head and some pretty heifers to look at. I would like to thank all the sponsors over the year and look forward to see you on Achievement Day.

BRADY WELESCHUK - Intermediate Member

You don’t often hear “I’ll have the CHUCK steak.” As chuck is often served in the form of ground beef. Hey there, I’m Brady Weleschuk a 6th year Vegreville 4-H Beef Club member and the fella pictured above with me is CHUCK. Chuck was not named after the particular cut of meat…but after my good buddy Charlie aka Chuck! I hope that made you…chuckle. Unlike how tuff a Dodge Ram truck is, I fully expect Chuck to produce the most tender cuts of beef you can buy! I’d like to thank Maddigan Chrysler for supporting me in the purchase of my steer last year, and my club year after year!

“This is your captain speaking!” Karly Weleschuk, a 5th year 4-H beef club member, and this fine specimen in the picture is my co-pilot JETT!. Much like a stealth jet aircraft, Jett here while in his stealth mode can navigate and maneuver his way throughout his pen with the potential to lick you to death if you are not paying close attention. This calf boasts a sleek style, and a Jet-black coat that is sure to impress and turn eyes wherever he lands. So please, when he enters the show ring, it will be time for him to take off to his final destination. So raise your hand and leave it in autopilot so JETT can descend into your home! I’m Corbyn Ziegler and this is my 4th year in the beef club. My steer is Moogan. He is my very own calf off my first cow I bought when I started 4-H. He’s been awesome to work with and loves having his butt scratched. We can’t wait till Achievement Day.

Hi! My name is Allyson Huculak and this is my third year in the beef club, this year my steers name is Cujo and he’s a black white faced Simmental Angus cross. Cujo loves to eat his feed and bathe in the sun. I enjoy working with him and we both can’t wait to see you all at Achievement Day!

Meet Dale Brisby and I am Paiten Axten. My steer is a Simm/Angus cross that I picked from our herd at home. The first few days of his life he struggled to walk but with a little help he grew up to be this laid back, easy going creature. I would like to thank Deerland for purchasing my steer last year and all the sponsors for the support in the past and future years. I hope to meet you at Achievement Day. Until then Dale and I will be “just ranchin” at the farm.

I’ve been working with him for the year, and he has been very stubborn with leading. I spent lots of time with him and he enjoys being brushed. I’m excited for my first Achievement Day.

Hi my name is Avery Pipke. I’m a second year 4-H member. My calf’s name is Forky, he is a Simmental-Angus cross. In 4-H I really enjoy raising and working with cattle, there’s always something new to learn! Forky is going to be a very tasty on the end of your fork!

Hello my name is Casey Yakubow, this is my last year as a Junior Member and I’m thrilled to be an Intermediate next year. Next to me is my stunning red Angus steer named Zeeke. Zeeke enjoys scratches and being groomed. He shows his love by licking you. He is a very efficient eater and is finishing very well. He shoots... He scores!! And the crowd goes wild!! Hi! My name is Sydney Sen and this is my 2nd year as a Junior in our Beef Club. There’s no mistaking when McDavid is on ice. Let me introduce you to our #97, McDavid. Like his name sake, there’s no mistaking when greatness enters the room. McDavid is a Simmental Hereford cross. His long body and muscular physique is unparalleled. While McDavid is a leader in the show ring, he still knows how to enjoy the little things in life as he loves to follow me and playfully lick my gloves. I am over the moon excited to show my first Market Steer, McDavid to you today.

Howdy my name is Cooper which most people call me Coop-man. This is my second year in 4-H with a steer but if you count the times I was a Cleaver it would be my 5th year. My steer’s name is Junior. He is an Angus-Simmental cross that was born on our farm. His name came from my dad’s friend Dave who likes to have fun. One of the things he really likes is when he gets his baths because he loves the blower. Another thing he likes is when he gets Grand Champion at the show. He dislikes my sister’s horse. I would like to thank Bonness Supply for purchasing my steer last year. I know Junior will make some AAA great tasting prime rib.

Hi my name is Matthew and this is my 2nd year in the beef club. My steers name is Billy and he is a Simmental. Billy and I don’t always get along but he still loves to be scratched and combed. I worked really hard with him all year and made sure he ate lots to ensure some great steaks for whomever purchases him!

Hi, my name is Zander Smith. This is my first year in Vegreville 4-H Beef Club. This year, I have a calf project named Copper, he is a Simmental steer. He was born on Feb 2nd he is weaning himself off of milk already (April 8). I like to take him on big walks to the back of our property.

Hi! My name is Allyson Huculak and this is my third year in the beef club. Introducing Scary Spice, a beautiful black simmental-angus cross heifer. Unlike her name, Scary spice is very calm and friendly which makes her so easy to train! We are both very excited to see you all at Achievement Day!

FORSYTH - Senior Member

My name is Chase Forsyth, this is my heifer Kathy. She is a Commercial Simmental. Kathy was a bit shy to come around at the start but is now a well behaved and trained animal. The reason I picked a heifer this year is this was the only way to build my herd as I’m not old enough to get a loan. Can’t wait to see you on Achievement Day.

My name is Matthew and this is my heifer Daisy! Daisy is very special to me as my Gido gave her to me! She is a Simmental cross and became my friend really fast. She loves scratches and being brushed and she follows me around everywhere! She also calls to me to let me know it’s feeding time! I can’t wait to show her off this year!

Hi my name is Avery Pipke. This is my first year doing a heifer project. Her name is Betty, Betty comes from our family’s farm herd. She has been great to work with. I’m hoping for lots of future babies from her, and who knows maybe even a future Grand Champion!

2 Year Old Cow / Calf Project

Nothing makes a person happier than a S’more under the stars, around the fire. And nothing makes me happier than to reintroduce you to my S’more and her new baby Graham. Both purebred Herefords, they command the show ring with their flawless charm and gorgeous coat colours. S’more was my 1 year old Heifer project last year and has returned to parade with pride her Graham. Last year I told you how S’more spent her quiet time. Now that she’s a mom, she spends her time a little differently. She is a devoted mom who ensures her babe is well taken care of. While Graham frolics about, S’more attentively stands by. I am so excited to show you S’more while my 4-H friend Kaydee shows Graham.

3 Year Old Cow / Calf Calf Project

Meet Dunk Diamond 610J and her calf Trigger. Double D is a purebred black Simmental cow with a purebred bull calf at her side. She is a deep bodied, powerful cow. She is a cow that raises those strong powerful calves. She has 2 bull calves on the ground both born late at night. Her easy going temperament has been passed onto her calves. Her last years bull calf is my little sister’s buddy.

MASON YAKUBOW

Howdy, I’m Mason Yakubow and this is my third year as a Cleaver. Next to me is my steer calf Jimmy. Jimmy was born on April 4th on my family farm. He is a Black Angus. He enjoys being brushed and lead around, but what excites him the most is returning to his mom after being worked with. Please come on down to show day and watch the cleaver show it’s sure a crowd pleaser. Hope to see you there.

KAYDEE WELESCHUK

Hello friends, I’m Kaydee Weleschuk, and this is my third year as a Cleaver in the Vegreville 4-H Beef Club. 4-H is one of my most favourite things. I love to spend time with all my 4-H friends. Graham is my Cleaver calf this year, he is a purebred Hereford. Graham is my 4-H friend Sydney’s cow’s calf. I am very excited to show him! Hi my name is Nate Pipke. This is my second and final year as a Cleaver. I’m excited for next year to have my own steer in the club. My calf’s name is Minnie, she is a fun ball of excitement. I’m hoping to use her as my heifer project next year.
