LETTER FROM HEAD VARSITY COACH

elcome to the San Clemente Lady Tritons’ 2012 Softball Season. We are very excited about the upcoming season. With the core of our varsity team returning and the arrival of some very talented freshman we believe this will be our year to bring home a Seaview League Title. This season’s schedule will be by far our most competitive in recent years. We believe by competing against some of the most successful and accomplished programs in Southern California we will be mentally prepared when our league schedule begins. So please support us as we build for when it counts. The success of any program begins and ends with its leadership. Please join me in welcoming back Amanda deLancellotti. Amanda was a big part of our success last season due to her knowledge of the game and most importantly, her leadership with the girls. I know the girls are very excited about her return this season. I also would like to welcome someone who is a newcomer to our program but definitely not a newcomer to the game. August Kulick has joined the varsity coaching staff. He brings a wealth of experience that I know the girls will benefit from. One of my priorities when I took this position was to build this program up from its foundation, one brick at a time. I call those bricks our junior varsity squad. We are very excited about the talented and hungry underclassmen we have; but as I mentioned before, this growth begins and ends with leadership. We are very excited about having those bricks molded by Laura Slye, our new Junior Varsity coach. Laura will have the assistance of Carolina Garza, who once played softball for San Clemente High School. With the leadership and guidance of these two, the JV girls will soon be competing for a spot on our varsity squad. As I begin my second campaign as the Lady Tritons’ head coach, I want to thank you for all of your support and dedication to the success of our program and the shaping of its future leaders. You have my word that we will do our best to make their experience the best it can be. “Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” Go Lady Tritons!! – Coach Paul Hill

I grew up in a neighborhood where everyone did drugs and no one went to college. My older brother and sister went to college but didn't play sports. Somehow at age 10 I decided I wanted to play. Softball kept me on the field and off the streets. It allowed me to concentrate on what was important off the field and helped me get to college. Since then it has been a constant source of enjoyment. I still get that rush of excitement every time I walk onto a field, whether I am playing, coaching or just watching.

SUMMER

I

would like to welcome everyone to the 2012 Triton Softball season. I am very excited about our team. Ladies, I can honestly say that we are a very talented group with the potential to win league. In the few weeks that we’ve been together, I have already seen vast improvement. We’re not just a talented group, but we are becoming a force to be reckoned with. Our hard work is already apparent, and if we continue to keep trucking along, we’ll create an abundance of good memories and we will achieve the recognition we deserve. Undoubtedly, there will be time when we make mistakes, but I know that we will be there to pick each other up. I would also like to thank everyone that has made this season and program possible. To the coaching staff, thank you for your patience and dedication to the team. Parents, thank you for allowing us to pursue our passion and for your undying loyalty. Mrs. McCasland, where would we be without your vision and tenacity? I appreciate all of the work you have put into our team. And last but certainly not least, to my family, words cannot express my love and gratitude for everything that you have done and for teaching me to dream. Here is to an awesome season of Triton Softball! – Lauren Delgadillo

I

t’s surreal, to say the least, to find myself a senior captain, when it seems like just yesterday I was lugging around team gear and abiding by the name, “Freshie.” What strikes me the most, though, is that this year I graduate from such an amazing softball program alongside the same ladies I began with: Dani, Lauren, Jourdan, and Willie. Our journey to this point is what I cherish most about this team. I am so blessed to share the field with these girls, who I now consider some of my best friends. With each year comes a different team: new freshmen, new attitudes, and sometimes even new equipment. Thank you, Coach Paul, Coach August, and Coach Amanda, for being the marvelous 2012 coaching staff. I can’t wait to exceed all of our expectations for this upcoming season. But I also must acknowledge the past coaches and players who laid the basis for what this program is today. Tori Yonker and Kailey McCasland are two past team members whom I always looked up to, both as captains and close friends; now, as a team captain, I hope the young ladies on my team view me in the same light. Though I cannot wait to continue my competitive softball career at Columbia University, I will never forget my roots at San Clemente High School. – Summer Secrest
