April 28, 2010 The Delta Optimist A25 Feedback

Early results of a Delta-funded transportation study show Tsawwassen’s major intersections are seeing traffic volumes well under capacity during peak hours. The busiest junction is Highway

17 and 56th Street at 72 per cent capacity, while 56th Street at 16th Avenue (69 per cent) and 56th Street at 12th Avenue (59 per cent) are among other busy intersections. The Optimist asked:

Could intersections handle more vehicles?

Bill Fulcher They can always handle more vehicles. The question is, how slow are they? We can’t have 1,900 new homes in this area and congest this road even more.

Monica Burrow Yes, I would say I think so. I don’t have the feeling that I have to wait too long. It doesn’t take more patience than it does anywhere else, around here.

You can have your say on this issue by taking part in our web poll at www. delta-optimist.com

Jeremy Doherty Yes, they could. Just the main street is packed (56th Street). Everywhere else is pretty low.

Ron Buziak They always could, but it’s too busy now.

Dave Lay I think they can handle more vehicles in the short term but a plan should be in place to handle increased volumes.

Last week we asked you:

Will you sign the HST petition? • 92.74 per cent said yes, I’m opposed to the HST. • 4.03 per cent said no, I support

the HST. • 3.23 per cent said I’m undecided about the HST.
