Looking for a painting to complement your art collection? You may want to visit the University Women’s Club of South Delta’s Once Loved Art Sale on May 7 and 8 in Tsawwassen. Expect to find watercolours, acrylics, oils, originals and prints, says organizer Olga Cragg. “This year the quality is very good, she said, adding about 160 paintings have been donated as of late last week. Proceeds from the fundraiser go towards bursaries for post secondary education for local women.

“We’re very pleased that some well-known artists have contributed,” she said, giving examples like Jeane Duffey, Francine Noreau and John Horton. Prices start at $5 and go up to $300. A Lalique crystal vase and a pair of paintings will be raffled off at the sale. The art sale will take place on Friday, May 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre, 1172-56th St. The club will be accepting donations of paintings up until April 30. To donate a painting call Anna at 604943-0042 or Mary at 604952-7044.

Gold medal dreams have given way to flying dreams, as Olympic airspace restrictions have now been lifted. Starting at 11am, Canadian Flight Centre is hosting a special event to launch the spring training season, and our return to regular flight operations. Whether you’re an experienced pilot, or curious about becoming one, we invite you to stop by. In addition to many aviation personalities & unique aircraft, the day will feature: • Aircraft & hangar tours leaving every hour. • Free flights every hour. • Raffle tickets for aerobatic flights, with proceeds going to Angel Flight BC. • Free ground school sessions. • Meet flight instructors and airline pilots. • Career planning sessions. • Barbeque - hosted by the Air Cadets. • CASARA - search & rescue presentation.

Good luck, Ron! It’s fair to say that in the Vancouver aviation community, Ron Harcus is a legend. After 30 years of owning Canadian Flight Centre, and helping thousands of people follow their aviation dreams, he’s finally easing up on the throttle. Join us at 4pm to offer your best wishes to Ron as he officially retires, and sets a course for new challenges in life.
