I would like to welcome everyone to this year’s bull sale on March 22, 2019. We are very excited about this year’s bull offering. They are big soggy rascals with tons of hair and great dispositions. This year’s offering might very well be the most even set we have put together. It is very gratifying to receive the comments we do about the consistency of the bull pen. We feel there is a bull for almost everyone’s need. There is a selection of horned, polled and heifer bulls available. We believe on raising the best “Hereford” we can. This being said, we do not care if they are polled or horned. We are striving to raise Herefords by their phenotypical type, not by horned, polled or markings. By combining the best of both worlds, we feel we can create the Hereford animal that will excel in the pasture and feedlot. The strength of the Hereford breed is built on its ability to survive in harsh conditions and to create the ultimate F1 cross with any other breed. It is great to hear customers tell you that they weaned off the heaviest sets of calves they ever had, let alone in a drought year. The bulls were weaned October 11 and the weaning weights listed in the catalogue are “actual” weights. This year our bull calves average 756lbs. In the past 4 years our average weaning weights have not varied within 10 lbs. We steer half our bull calves when we brand in April and another cut is done after we wean. Only the best are offered as bulls. Our heifer calves were once again purchased by Bircham Ranch. These heifers go into one of the top F1 programs in Canada. We stand behind the sale offering 100%. Again, we will offer to carry any bull until fall or until next spring as is described in the “terms and conditions”. Full payment by either cash or cheque payable sale day unless prior arrangements are made with Donnie Gillespie. Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over catalogue. We understand that yearling bulls do not fit into every one’s program. Thus, we offer to keep the bulls until fall free of charge or will keep bulls until the following spring at a charge of $500 per bull. These bulls must be insured and paid in full sale day (unless arrangements are made with Donnie Gillespie). We reserve the right to draw semen on any bull in the sale for our own use.

A heifer bull that we sold in our 2017 sale to JD Ranch at Chaplin. We think a lot of this guys cow family so we went and leased him back for the past 2 years. You just don’t find many bulls like this guy. Maybe a bit more white on him but good luck finding a bull with more middle and butt. His sire is consistently adding middle in his offspring.
