LaTonia Adeniran from Allied Intergraded Marketing-Houston and 43KixHouston invite Houston viewers to tune-in to the PREMIERE 4th season of the Food Network’s “Chopped All-Stars” starting at 9PM (10PM ET/PT) Tuesday, April 28th on the Food Network, next week. Hosted by Ted Allen, the 5-part competition series features four chefs going head-to-head each week over three rounds including Appetizers, Entrées and desserts. In each round the chefs create unique and delicious dishes using the mystery ingredients within the “Chopped” basket. The dishes are judged by a rotating roster of “Chopped” judges including Maneet Chauhan, Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, Aaron Sanchez, Chris Santos and Geoffery Zakarian to determine which chefs will advance to face-off in the finale, with a chance to win the $75K grand prize for the charity of their choice. Of special note, there is a Houston connection. Ms. Cat Cora of Cat Cora’s Kitchen is a contestant on the “All-Stars Tournament: Part 4” show. She will be competing with chefs Antonia Lofaso, Michael Psilakis and Marcel Vigneron, premiering Tuesday, May 12th at 9PM (10PM ET/PT) and judged by Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag and Aaron Sanchez. The Houston Filmmaker Grant, 2015 Deadline: May 1st, 2015 The Houston Film Commission, Women in Film And TelevisionHouston and The Houston Art Alliance invite feature film makers to apply for the 2nd Houston Filmmaker Grant, 2015, a $30,000 matching grant earmarked for the production of a narrative feature length commercial motion pictures produced in Houston and by a local movie maker. The Grant is made possible through the City of Houston’s Initiative Grant Program and the outcome of the film task force created by Houston Mayor Annise Parker in 2012 and co-chaired by Franci Neely and Sharon Adams. Allied Integrated Marketing-Houston and Whitney Spencer, UPI, A24, Universal Pictures, DNA Films and Film4 are pleased to invite Houston Audiences to the opening release of Director Alex Garland’s new science fiction feature motion picture “Ex Machina” coming up this Friday, April 24th at the Alamo Drafthouse-Vintage Park (114 Vintage Park Blvd., Houston, TX 77070 / Just off 249 and Louetta Rd.). Written by Alex Garland, the story follows 26-year old Caleb Smith (played by Domhnall Gleeson), a simple programmer at one of the worlds largest internet-search companies. When Caleb wins a competition his prize is to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company’s brilliant yet reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (played by Oscar Isaac) for one-on-one time for insight. Upon arriving to the estate, Caleb learns that Mr. Bateman has chosen him to be the human component and to participate in a breakthrough experiment in AI (artificial intelligence) by evaluating the human qualities of a “bot” in a “Turing Test”. Cabeb is in charge in of evaluating the capabilities and ultimately the consciousness of Nathan’s latest experiment, Ava (played by Alicia Vikander), a breathtaking female bot whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated - and more deceptive - than the two men could have imagined. Casting also includes Corey Johnson, Sonoya Mizuno, Clair Selby, Symara Templeman, Tiffany Pisani Elina Alminas, Gana Bayarsaikhan, Chelsea Li, Caitlin Morton, Deborah Rosan, Johanna Thea and Evie Wray. Behind the camera and shooting this movie is Cinematographer Rob Hardy whose cinematographer credits number close to 4 dozen projects. The Houston Splash Mini Film Festival has curated three feature movies including the 2013 documentary “The New Black” by Director Yoruba Richen (screening Thursday, May 7th) , the 2008 documentary “Still Black” by Dr. Kortney Ryan Ziegler (screening Friday, May 8th) and the Houston PRIEMERE of the narrative feature movie by Director Apatrik-Ian Polk “Blackbird” (screening Saturday, May 9th). Organizer Byron Canady, Houston Splash and The Houston Splash Film Festival invite the pubic to the HOUSTON PREMIER of Director Patrik-Ian Polk’s new feature motion picture “Blackbird” starting at 9PM at the University of Houston’s Student Affairs Theater (4800 Calhoun Rd. Written by Rikki Beadle Blair and Patrik-Ian Polk the story follows 17year old Randy Rousseau (played by Julian Walker), a high school choirboy struggling to come of age in a small religiously conservative Mississippi town. Randy juggles his role as the “star” of the church choir while facing the everyday trails of life as a high school misfit, plagued by eerie visions and premonitions. When his little sister goes missing, his parents split up leaving Randy to care for his heartbroken mother Clair (played by Mo’Nique). When Claire discovers a shocking secret her son, Randy, has been hiding, she blames him for the disappearance of his sister. Randy’s father, Lance (played by Isaiah Washington), who has been keeping an eye on his broken family, steps in to to give his son a hand, as he struggles to make the difficult transition into manhood and accepting who you really are. Houston Executive Producer Lynn Birdwell of Bird House Productions and the Rivet production company, and Pam Johnson, breath coach and founder of the Heights School of Yoga, invite the pubic to the screening of their new short art film. “Breath: The Pulse of the Universe: Tadasana Troupe Performance and Meditation” starting at 7PM, Thursday, May 14th, next month, at the Rothko Chapel (3900 Yupon St., Houston, TX 77006). The short movie is an inspirational piece that captures the metaphysical essence of slow-motion, rhythmic breath and luminosity. It was created to allow viewers to observe and become keenly aware of the sound and movement that is our life force - the “breath” and for the participant to feel the essence and integrity of the ancient healing practice of yoga and to develop our human capacity so that we may grow and mature our sacred and peaceful internal spaces. The film will be projected onto the exterior of the chapel building. In collaboration, the team is presenting a unique “LIVE” performance inside the center of Rothko Chapel by six Mandala Troupe members. The Festival is accepting Features, Shorts, Feature Screenplays, Webseries/TV, Music Videos, Trailers, Short Film Screenplays, Television pilots, Television Screen plays, Student Features and Student Short Film projects.
