At BU Law, I had the opportunity to design a curriculum unique to my needs that provided me with the skills for a career in public interest and civil rights law. I litigated eviction and family law cases in the Civil Litigation Clinic, expanded my network through externships at area legal organizations, and challenged myself in classes like Critical Race Theory. These experiences influenced my decision to pursue a fellowship and continue to define the way I practice law.

Since my first day on the job with the federal government, I’ve had to solve problems quickly and efficiently, as well as communicate complex ideas clearly to a wide range of audiences. I’ve met these challenges, thanks to BU School of Law’s training and the high standards it encouraged me to have both academically and professionally.

Because of the Criminal Law Clinic and my Semester-in-Practice at the Federal Defenders for the Eastern District of Michigan, the last half of my BU Law career was essentially spent in practicum. It confirmed that I wanted to make this my career path, and it gave me a major advantage in terms of readiness for a job post-graduation.

Over the years our office has hired numerous BU Law students as interns and staff attorneys. I have consistently been highly impressed by their professionalism and preparedness to make successful contributions to our cases from day one and their commitment to making a meaningful impact for our clients.
