DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE After four wonderful years at Broward County Library, I will be taking the next step in my career journey this month, having accepted the position of Executive Director of the Las Vegas Clark County Library District. I am grateful for the experience I’ve had with Broward County Libraries Division, and I genuinely enjoyed the time I shared with you all. I am thankful to our staff and for their help in transforming the Broward County Libraries and charting a new and innovative direction, and I am thankful for every one of you, our customers and our community. In the last four years we have overcome challenges, achieved goals, worked hard and still made time to enjoy ourselves, with amazing community events and programs that allowed me to get to know you, your families and your communities. From dance floor fun at AARLCC’s Destination Fridays to story times at Stirling Road Branch, official ribbon cuttings to Career Online High School commencement, the memories and relationships Broward County has gifted me will travel with me wherever I go.

In my final Director’s Message for Broward County Library, I would like to personally invite everyone to celebrate Black History Month 2021’s theme of “The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity.” I encourage you and your family to attend

one of our free, online Black History Month events, because, as we look toward to the challenges and changes of the upcoming year, there is no better time to celebrate the significance of this theme to all of us. To me, it stresses the importance of seeing and being seen, of recognizing that beyond our differences, all of us deserve respect, recognition and the opportunity to rise above and succeed. Above all, I wish that for each and every one of you, and I know that it is possible. 2
