WELCOME GUIDE FOR STARS 2 0 22– 2 02 3

This guide will be a resource you can reference to understand what services and supports you have access to as a student enrolled at Brock in the STARS program. We want you to ultimately choose Brock University for your undergraduate studies and are certain that our top-notch supports available on campus will meet your needs, and make you feel welcomed to the Brock community during the STARS program, and when you return as a full-time undergraduate student.

BROCK CARD Your Brock Card is your official identification card while studying at Brock University. This card serves many purposes, but primarily, it gives you access to various supports and services within the Brock community, including meal plans/flex dollars to use at Dining Services locations, library access, recreation access, and is used as a form of identification during in-person exams. You can begin the process of getting your Brock Card online by following the steps outlined on this website. Be sure to carefully read and follow the instructions for submitting a photo for your Brock Card. Once you successfully submit the information needed to obtain a Brock Card, you will be contacted with next steps, which will involve picking up the Brock Card from the Brock Card Office, located at the top of the Market Hall stairs in the Thistle complex. The Brock Card Office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. You will want to ensure you have your Brock Card before you begin your studies at Brock. Questions? E-mail brockcard@brocku.ca 3


CAMPUS STORE Depending on the course(s) you are taking through the STARS program you may be required to purchase textbooks and course materials through Brock’s Campus Store. Brock’s Campus Store offers a variety of new and used options for textbooks and course materials, as well as school supplies, technology, gifts, accessories, and apparel. To determine what textbooks are required to purchase for the course(s) you are taking, you will utilize the course code (e.g., PSYC 1F90) associated with the course(s) you are taking. You can opt to shop in-person or online through Brock’s Campus Store website. Fall 2022 textbook information for courses will be released on August 6th. It is the responsibility of the STARS program student to pay for any textbooks or course materials that are required for the course(s) being taken. Questions? E-mail campusstore@brocku.ca

PARKING SERVICES There are a wide array of options for parking at Brock if you plan to drive to campus while taking courses with us through the STARS program. Be sure to review the parking rates and parking map to help decide which option works best for you and your situation. It is the responsibility of the STARS program student to pay for any parking services needed to access campus in order to attend classes. Questions? E-mail parking@brocku.ca

PUBLIC TRANSIT You may consider accessing public transit services in order to get to Brock to take any in-person classes you have registered for as part of the STARS program. CAMPUS TOUR Explore our beautiful campus either virtually or in-person by participating in a campus tour. Campus tours are a great way to become more familiar with our various indoor and outdoor buildings and spaces so you can easily find your way around once your classes begin. If you are interested in a campus tour but wish to participate in the comforts of home, you can opt to engage in a self-guided virtual tour. Using your phone, tablet, or computer, you can explore all our campus has to offer before stepping foot on campus. BROCK UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ UNION (BUSU) The Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) offers a wide variety of services and programming which you may access during your time in the STARS program. From dining and food services to social events and workshops, there is plenty of opportunities to get involved with BUSU activities offered throughout the Fall and Winter semesters. RECREATION SERVICES Brock Recreation provides innovative, engaging, and high-quality experiences in sport and recreation. From accessing the newly expanded Zone Fitness Centre, to engaging in fitness classes and aquatics programming, there are many opportunities to participate in recreation programming during your time in the STARS program. BROCK UNIVERSITY LIBRARY The Brock University Library offers a variety of services and supports to access during your time at Brock in the STARS program.
