Dungannon Premier Sale 2011 a son of Drumsallagh Harcourt shown by Sidney Corbett and purchased by John Foster, Castlederg. This ram’s full brother sold for 3000gns at the Premier Sale in 2009. Taking the red rosette in the shearling ram class were David and Liz Mawhinney with a powerful Honddu Investigator son, this ram later headed South to County Cavan selling for 1500gns. The Judge’s choice in the untrimmed class was an upstanding ram from the Craig Brother’s pen selling for 580gns to County Donegal. In the Female class George and Jason Booth took the honours with a Riverdale Jupiter ewe lamb. Jupiter is a son of Rainbow Hermes, this stylish ewe lamb also made the top female price on the day selling for 820gns to County Clare Breeder Eamonn Quinlivan. Averages at the sale were once again on the up with many astute commercial buyers there to secure a calibre ram; this demand early on the season a reflection of the confidence in the breed. A strong contingent of Southern buyers drove prices up with several of the higher priced rams making their way South.
