Our Partners CANCER RESEARCH UK KIDS & TEENS We are pleased to welcome Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens back as title sponsor in 2017! Every day around 10 young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. Despite improving survival rates, cancer is the leading cause of death in children, teenagers and young adults. Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens is a campaign to raise money for research into cancers affecting children, teens and young adults. With your help we will find cures and kinder treatments for young people facing cancer. You can do your bit when you take part in the Mini Mile by fundraising for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens. Download a sponsorship pack today and you can help them to find cures and kinder treatments: www.cancerresearchuk.org/support-us/donate/kids-and-teens/fundraise

GATWICK AIRPORT We are also extremely grateful to our new partner Gatwick Airport who have very generously waived the entry fee this year, allowing you to enter for free. Instead of paying an entry fee, all entrants were invited to make an optional donation to Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens. We are pleased to say that at the time of going to print, this has raised over ÂŁ7000 for the charity so far. It is fantastic to be able to give children who might not have otherwise taken part, the opportunity to be a part of one of the largest youth races in the UK.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: RACE NUMBER -- You must not exchange your race number with anyone else.* -- Please ensure you complete the runner’s medical details on the back of the number. This is extremely important should the runner be in need of treatment of any kind. -- Please also write the contact name and mobile phone number of the adult accompanying you on the day.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: RACE T-SHIRT -- Please do not exchange your coloured T-shirt with another colour; your T-shirt represents the race you are running in and is an important assistance in identifying you, as is your race number. -- Runners will not be permitted to enter the warm up pen wearing anything other than the correct race T-shirt.

-- You should attach the race number on the front of your coloured T-shirt, using a safety pin at each corner. * This is VERY important: amongst other potential problems doing so may cause problems of identification for the event medical services in the case of any accident or injury. Any attempt to do so will result in immediate disqualification of the individual(s) concerned and ejection from the event. Due to the complexities of administering timing chips and results we are unable to accommodate requests to change races.

Travel to the event ADDRESS Preston Park, Preston Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 6HN

PARKING To prevent congestion, we strongly recommend that you use public transport. Please note that the park and therefore “The Ride” will be closed to all cars on the day of the event.

TRAINS The closest train station is Preston Park Station which is a 10 minute walk to the park. London Road and Brighton train stations are also close by and within walking distance. Trains run regularly from London Victoria to Brighton station with a journey time of roughly 1 hour. Trains from London Gatwick airport also run regularly and take roughly 20 25 minutes.

BUSES The 5 and 5A buses run between Hangleton and Patcham, passing through the town centre and go past the park at regular intervals. Please refer to http://www.buses.co.uk/ for further information and timetables

TAXIS If you require a taxi for travel to and within Brighton, and wish to pre-book you can find a list of further public transport available and full information via the Brighton & Hove City Council web site.

Accommodation If you require accommodation for the weekend, then we advise doing so as soon as possible as the city will be very busy for the Brighton Marathon and BM10k on the Sunday. If finding central accommodation proves to be tricky as hotels fill up, do be sure to look further afield in towns close by, such as Lewes, Worthing, Shoreham and even Gatwick for accommodation that is easily commutable by train, taxi or bus. Websites such as booking.com are good ways to search for hotels. For more links or other ideas such as camping and private rentals with Air BnB, please visit: www.brightonmarathon.co.uk/ accommodation

PARKING If you do drive to the event please use the pay and display parking bays in the surrounding streets, there are plenty available. The nearest car parks are London Road car park and Southern Brighton Station Car Park.

Please note that parkrun will take place in the park at 9am, which is a free of charge 5k timed run that happens every Saturday at 9am. We did not want to cancel this event, so please be aware that this will go ahead as normal on Saturday 8th April.

Child Safety We highly recommend that children under the age of 13 years old have one parent or guardian accompanying them to the event although no adults are permitted on the running route, unless there are exceptional circumstances and there is a pre-arranged agreement in place. Parents can of course follow alongside the course. Runner safety is our number one priority. There will be marshals along the length of the course, a lead bike ahead of the race and a course marshal sweeping behind. The event marshals will be wearing blue. In the event of a lost child please speak to the nearest event marshal or go directly to the Information Tent.

The Course FIRST AID First Aid will be provided at the Start, the Finish and along the route.

TOILETS Toilets will be situated within the Event Village area.

Race Start -- The Warm Up Area is a contained space, only runners are allowed to enter this area. -- Please make sure you are in the Warm Up Area at least 10 minutes before your race time to take part in a short warm up. Please do not be late - you may miss your race. -- Once runners are within the Warm Up Area they will be looked after by event marshals and led from the Warm Up Area to the Start Line in time for the start of their race, which will be signalled by a hooter. -- Please make sure that you listen out for announcements throughout the day and remember to smile - you may see yourself on the big screen!

Spectators The course is spectator friendly and you will be able to see your children or friends most of the way round. There will be barriers around the whole course protecting the runners. Please note that there are four designated crossing points along the route (see course map). Please give the runners as much encouragement as you can!

The Finish Every finisher will be presented with a medal and a kit bag once they have crossed the finish line. Please pay attention to the marshals when you cross the finish line as all runners will be directed into the post finish area according to the colour on their race number (see the repatriation section for further information.) To help avoid congestion at the finish line runners need to make sure that they keep moving through to repatriation, once finished. Please listen to instructions from marshals. All runners have a timing chip, (that you must fix to your shoelace before taking part) which means that your time will automatically stop once you have crossed the finish line.

Repatriation / Collect Your Runner We ask that a parent or guardian collects any children under the age of 13 after their race, from the Repatriation Area. To avoid congestion the Repatriation Area will be split into four coloured pens – Blue, Pink, Green and Red – and your child will be directed to the pen according to the colour of their race number. Please make a note of the colour of your child’s running number. If the area is looking congested please only send one family member to the repatriation area to greet your child. Any child not collected 30 minutes after the finish of their race will be treated as a ‘lost child’ and taken to the Information Point.

Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third placed for each race on the stage – please see presentation timings within the schedule.
