Interested in a career in manufacturing? Job Starter is paid training providing the skills and training needed to be successful starting a job in advanced manufacturing. You will spend three weeks training, meeting companies, and choosing the best place for you to work! Participants must be eligible to work in the US, have reliable transportation, hold a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old, or be 18 years old by January 23, 2023.

Focuses on welding and fabrication skills used in building welded metal projects. Students will create a working drawing and bill of materials, factor in total costs and weight of their project, cut and tack-weld all components together, and make final welds to complete the job. Focuses on the techniques used for welding pipe. The shielded metal arc welding process is used to perform practice welds on pipe diameters from 2 to 12 inches. Basic pipe-fitting practices will be demonstrated using butt weld and socket weld fittings to progress through learning to weld pipe in horizontal and vertical positions. One-on-one coaching, welding demonstrations and welding videos will be used to illustrate the techniques the student must follow to successfully pass the 6G qualification test.

COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE

Ready for take-off into an exciting career? BRCC’s commercial pilot program provides hands-on pilot training to ensure you’re up and flying right away with the right stuff. Our knowledgeable instructors focus on providing practical learning with in-flight training that will prepare you for a successful aviation career. BRCC partners with Blue Ridge Aviation to offer the flight training components of this program; students are required to pay additional fees directly to them as the contracted flight school.

DRAWING: AN INTRODUCTION

The place to start! Introducing beginners to the basics of drawing, this course begins with essential incremental steps that provide students the basics of drawing from observation with regular practice. Starting in pencil and then charcoal, each student will leave with finished pieces at the end of 6 weeks. Basic painting and mediums will also be introduced, to enlighten students of next options. SKETCHING WITH INK & WATERCOLOR

Develop your ability to combine Watercolor and Ink for sketching. You will explore various types of pens and brushes. Working with traditional black and brown inks and a classic defined palette of watercolors, you will focus on techniques for combining line, texture and color, while developing design strategies that balance visual richness with simplicity. A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM: YOUTH EDITION

It is four nights until the wedding of Athens renowned Duke Theseus marries his love Hippolyta; however trouble is stirring when Egeus, a citizen of Athens demands the Duke uphold the law of Athens, forcing his daughter Hermia to marry Egeus’s choice: Demetrius. Scared that she won’t be able to marry her true love Lysander, Hermia and Duke flee Athens to be together. When Hermia’s best friend Helena finds out, she tells Demetrius, who then follows along with Helena - who is madly in love with Demetrius! Meanwhile a group of actors is hoping to perform their play for the Duke on their wedding day and rehearses in the same woods where the lovers are traveling. In those same woods, the King and Queen of the fairy kingdom are at odds, fighting over a young Changeling boy, causing the seasons and fairy realm to be turned upside down. No one is happy when they are at odds! Hoping to play a trick on the queen, Oberon gets his right hand nymph Puck to cast a spell to make her fall in love.
