Dallas Art Art is a diverse array of human activities in producing visual, auditory or acting artifacts (artworks), expressing the writer's imaginative or technical ability, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. In their most general type these actions include the creation of works of art, the criticism of art, the research of the history of art, and the aesthetic dissemination of art. The earliest documented kinds of art are visual arts, including production of images or objects in fields such as now painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and other visual media. Architecture is frequently included among the visual arts; however, such as the cosmetic arts, or marketing, it includes the production of items where the practical considerations of use are essential--in a way that they are not in a painting, for example. Music, theater, film, dance, and other performing arts, as well as literature and other media such as interactive websites, are contained in a wider definition of art along with the arts. Until the 17th century, the artwork referred to any skill or command and wasn't differentiated from crafts or sciences. In contemporary use after the 17th century, in which aesthetic considerations are paramount, the fine arts are distinguished and separated from acquired abilities generally, such as the cosmetic or applied arts. Art may be distinguished concerning mimesis (its representation of fact), narrative (storytelling), expression, communication of emotion, or other attributes. During the Romantic period, art came to be viewed as "a distinctive school of the body to be categorized with science and faith". Although the definition of exactly what constitutes art is contested and has shifted over time, overall descriptions mention an concept of technical or creative ability stemming from human agency and creation.
