Dallas TX Art Art is a diverse range of human actions in producing visual, sensory or performing artifacts (artworks), expressing the writer's technical or creative ability, designed to be valued for their beauty or emotional power. In their most general type these activities include the creation of works of art, the criticism of art, the research of the history of art, as well as the aesthetic dissemination of art. The earliest documented kinds of art are visual arts, including creation of images or objects in areas such as today painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and other visual media. Architecture is often included as one of the visual artsnonetheless, such as the cosmetic arts, or marketing, it involves the creation of objects in which the technical considerations of use are essential--in a manner they usually are not in a painting, for example. Music, theater, film, dance, and other performing arts, as well as literature and other media such as interactive media, are included in a wider definition of art along with the arts. Until the 17th century, the artwork referred to any ability or mastery and wasn't distinguished from sciences or crafts. In contemporary use after the 17th century, where aesthetic considerations are paramount, the arts are separated and distinguished from acquired abilities generally, such as the decorative or applied arts. Art may be characterized in terms of mimesis (its representation of fact), narrative (storytelling), expression, communication of emotion, or other qualities. During the Romantic period, artwork came to be viewed as "a distinctive faculty of the body to be categorized with religion and science". Though the definition of exactly what constitutes art is contested and has shifted over time, overall descriptions cite an idea of imaginative or technical skill stemming from human creation and agency.
