Welcome „4 countries. 2 languages. 1 summit.” This motto summarizes the idea behind INCONTRI and also indicates its aim. Being a bilingual region located at the point where northern and southern Europe meet, South Tyrol is particularly well suited to initiate collaboration across borders. It is thus the central and long-term goal of BLS to promote and encourage cooperation between the German-language and Italian-language film sectors. To round out our squad of connected film countries, we also have – at long last –participants from Switzerland on board this year. We are extremely pleased about this, and expect interesting proposals regarding working relationships that transcend language and culture. Unlike other co-production meetings, INCONTRI is not a classic co-production market and does not strive to be. INCONTRI wants to be small: to this end, it deliberately brings together a limited number of selected industry representatives who are not only interested in co-productions but also have the means to bring them to fruition. This makes them attractive partners for the other side. In addition to a concentrated, topical and practically oriented exchange of ideas, we should give ample attention to interpersonal encounters, which are often critical to the quality of a collaboration. Two other things that are important for INCONTRI: Firstly, our focus will not be limited to theatrical release productions, but will also explicitly encompass television. At the moment, in fact, there is a good deal of creative momentum in the television series sector. Secondly, it is not only financial perspectives that will be addressed at the meeting, but also content. The catchphrase here is global storytelling. At the producer level, we build upon what has already been completed on the screenwriting level through BLS’s RACCONTI initiative: We would love to encourage the development of stories / projects that can be realized as a co- production and could be exploited in the Italian speaking as well as in the German speaking territories – and maybe even beyond. There has been some frustration in the last few months, especially in terms of German-Italian relations. In the field of co-productions, too, we would like to announce more successes in the future. We hope that it is not only on a large scale but also on a smaller scale – perhaps a chat over a glass of wine – that getting to know each other will eventually lead to rapprochement and enhanced cooperation. We thus encourage you to participate in active interchange outside of the official program, discussing financial models, audience tastes, viewing habits, and distribution opportunities in your respective countries, in order to return home afterwards enriched by many different perspectives. In this spirit, we wish you a successful yet relaxing stay in South Tyrol!

Christiana Wertz, Head of BLS Film Fund & Commission Gabriele Brunnenmeyer, Project Manager INCONTRI Alessia Ratzenberger, Project Manager INCONTRI

Greetings Dear INCONTRI #3 participants, The “three” in the title of this event says it all: This is the third time we invite you to our INCONTRI co-production meetings in South Tyrol, and are absolutely delighted to welcome you as producers, broadcast representatives and film funding organizations. The number of participating countries has now increased from three to four: this year, Switzerland has joined Italy, Germany and Austria. This is only logical since INCONTRI is an exclusive meeting point for participants from the film sectors in all of the German-speaking countries and Italy. INCONTRI is always a time for us to take stock of South Tyrol’s development as a film location. In 2011, when the first meeting took place, we were standing in the wings. Now we can already look back on two years of operations for South Tyrol’s film funding program. The past year has seen a lot of forward momentum; in fact, the province government’s expectations in terms of film promotion and our development as a film location have been far exceeded. The figures underline this in a striking way: There were 23 productions funded in 2012. The average territorial effect for South Tyrol was 180 per cent, and the total number of shooting days here was 500. The productions filmed were very diverse, ranging from the Italian TV series Un passo dal cielo, in its second season and starring Terence Hill, to the Austrian feature film The Silent Mountain, a tragedy set in the Dolomites during WWI featuring Claudia Cardinale and William Moseley, to the German/Swiss feature The Black Brothers based on the famous children’s book of the same name and starring Moritz Bleibtreu. Among the other projects realized in South Tyrol, there were two that emerged as real blockbusters: Il principe abusivo, with well over 2 million filmgoers in Italy, and master auteur Giuseppe Tornatore’s latest work, The Best Offer, which delighted an audience of more than 1.5 million Italian viewers. All of these projects have had a positive effect on South Tyrol’s economy and on the province as a film location – something that is very important to us. Of course, a film location cannot be developed from one day to the other. Yet we can be proud of the fact that we are already considered, within the Italian industry, as the “third pole” alongside Rome and Turin. Above and beyond the film funding program, we have also seen the success of the MOV(I)E IT! training initiative, which has been tailored to the needs of the location, and BLS’s active efforts to establish a film-specific infrastructure in South Tyrol. We are delighted that South Tyrol now has two established equipment distributors present, which offer storage, equipment and personnel: REC and Maier Bros. Thanks to the commitment of the BLS Film Fund and Commission, we are extremely optimistic about South Tyrol’s future as a film location. We are, in fact, already excited about what new effects we’ll be able to present at our next assessment, INCONTRI #4. Not to get ahead of ourselves, though, we hope that you’ll find inspiration at INCONTRI #3. Take this opportunity to do some networking and to visit the Bolzano Film Festival, which is now in its 27th year and will celebrate those working in the Italian, German, Austrian and Swiss film industries.

Not only its geographical location, but also the bilingualism of the residents of South Tyrol helps to build intercultural bridges. To ensure that these bridges are not ends in themselves, but rather bring people, projects and productions together, BLS follows clearly defined goals in 4 mayor areas of competence: • Placing and reinforcing the idea of South Tyrol as a film and television location. • Allocation of grants from the Fund for Audiovisuals of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, which has 5 million euros for 2013, based on the proven effect on the area generated by financed projects. • Development and reinforcement of the audiovisual industry present in the area. • Assistance to those productions that decide to film audiovisual material in South Tyrol. Short CV Christiana Wertz, born in Cologne in 1978, studied German philology, history and business administration in Cologne and Oxford. After working for the Goethe Institute in San Francisco, the German Films Service + Marketing in Munich and FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, she was tasked with building up BLS’s Film Fund & Commission in October 2009 and has headed the department since that time. She is thus responsible for film funding, location development, promoting South Tyrol as a shooting location, and the film commission itself.

Company profile Media work is primarily intellectual work. This simple statement is still not a given in the financially focused field of audiovisual media. Mediaart Production Coop was founded in 1999, initially as an alliance of three freelance journalists who recognized the advantages of an agile cooperative as a modern instrument of corporate governance. As a coop, Mediaart can address the technical and substantive challenges of a wide array of local and international clientele in the most advantageous way. Mediaart Production Coop’s lean corporate structure allows it to customize its work to each individual project using the personnel best suited for each specific task. The best conditions for achieving high quality standards, in fact, do not come about through the ownership of production equipment – but rather through its expert handling. Logline History is not a fixed past but changeable and subject to continuous transformation. Historical figures live in the present, in the deep layers of the planet’s unconscious, and influence world affairs. Synopsis After 700 years, Henry VII of Luxembourg, Holy Roman Emperor, returns to the present day to find out what has happened to his family, his empire and his dream of an ideal society. In order to accomplish the journeys between the numerous territories belonging to the former House of Luxembourg he uses underground canals and connections. In this parallel underground world, consisting of corridors, caves and rivers, he meets an old acquaintance, Dante Alighieri, whom Henry glorified and immortalized in the Divine Comedy many centuries ago. In the meantime Dante has continued to explore the Inferno, the Purgatorio and the Paradiso, which is now quantum-computer controlled. While Henry VII fails to find many traces of his family in Luxembourg, he runs across correspondingly more in Prague, Nuremberg and especially in the Toscana. He discovers here not only impressive statues and tombs, but also a lively memorial culture: all over the place there are busy preparations going on for celebrating the 700th anniversary of his death. 84

Producers Note „1313 – Dante’s Emperor“ is a docu-science-fiction story with a very dense and inventive creative concept. It explores the life of Henry VII of Luxembourg, who was the Emperor of the Roman Empire in the 14th century. The film will be focus on his relationship with the poet Dante Alighieri and his „Divine Comedy“. We want to develope a political film, poetic an humorous, a film that plays with the boundaries of fiction and documentary. Just like Bady Minck’s previous works, the film will be based on a highly developed research in science, iconography and history. Bady’s films like“ The Man with modern nerves“, „In the beginning was the eye“, „Mécanomagie“ or „Schein Sein“ have premiered at international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin and Rotterdam. Bady Minck and Guig Jost, who is a renowned theatre „metteur en scène“ in Luxembourg, have worked several months on the attached concept. The film is in development, and we will have a week of research shooting between June and August 2013, in Italy and in september in Luxembourg. In 2013 Tuscany will celebrate the 700th death-day of Emperor Henry VII. We would like to take this opportunity to film some of the celebrations in Italy. At the same time we would like to shoot several scenes with Vicky Krieps („Anonymous “, „Vermessung der Welt“, „Elle ne pleure pas, elle chante“) – Vicky would be an ideal Henry VII, and we will work with her her in the role of the King, dressed up and on the back of a horse. „1313“ is produced by AMOUR FOU Luxembourg, and we are looking for possible coproduction and financing partners in Italy and Germany (where party of the film will also be shot). Therefore, the participation at the „Incontri“ would be a very interesting occasion for us to present the project to an international audience. Project Information Dokufiction, 90 min

Producers Note In terms of financing, production and distribution, we believe this project has above average potential. We are confident that the story of two young female figure skaters on the road to adulthood will reach a large audience. We find not only the story fascinating, but also the setting and the sport itself: the harsh training, the character of the trainer, the sublime elegance of figure skating, and the visual atmosphere of the ice rink and the snowy mountain lake. We consider Hana Geissendorfer a talented writer and director who, after making several award-winning shorts, is now ready to direct her first feature film. SPIRAL holds a special place in her heart. As a former gymnast, Hana is very familiar with the athletic milieu: the tough trainers, rivalries among friends, and great athletic dreams and disappointments which are intrinsically linked to this phase of life. Synopsis Wien 1945: The powder keg of war and the Russian occupation as seen through the innocent eyes of nine-year old Christine. Little does she know about peace, much as children today know little about war. Bombed out and penniless, she and her family are put up in a fancy villa in Neuwaldegg. They now have a roof over their heads, nothing more. After the German soldiers capitulate, the Russians take over the house. Everybody is scared of the Russians, who are believed to be a capricious lot. Everybody, except Christine.

Logline Five daughters and two widows gather in memory of a famous man. A comedy about women, their dependence on male attention, their still unexplored strength, humour, and creativity. Synopsis A small, provincial town in the Italian countryside is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the death of Saverio Crispo, one of the greatest Italian actors of all time. Susanna is Saverio’s eldest daughter, the only legitimate. She is the daughter of his Italian wife Rita, who was an actress in her youth. But Saverio, who was a great charmer, had four other daughters by four women of different nationalities. Susanna has decided to gather all her sisters for the first time: Stéphanie is the French daughter (her mother was the Saverio’s costume designer…), she is an actress; Segunda, whose mother is a Catalan actress; she doesn’t work, she’s married, and mother of two boys; Solveig, the youngest, is an actress from Sweden; and Shelley, the mysterious American daughter who nobody has ever seen. Susanna welcomes them all: Segunda who arrives with her mother Ramona, her husband and children; Stéphanie with her child and Solveig who comes alone and during the festival the house becomes a battleground. A puzzling stranger appears, Pedro, a Spanish man who resembles Saverio. Rita and Ramona seem to know him, but his 90

Synopsis presence must be kept secret, since a journalist is eager to write a scoop on the famous Saverio. Finally, everybody’s hidden secrets break loose, but all of the women will emerge transformed by the celebration of “their” man: perhaps finally free from his power. Producers Note At the centre of the film there’s a man—the father—his five daughters scattered around the world, and his two widows. The father is a great actor of the Italian cinema, the daughters and mothers have different careers, but all still feel the necessity to deal with him. As one of the daughters says: “We still do anything to catch his eye, even in death. We’re ready to steal each other’s man, the role, the name, the work. We cannot sleep peacefully in our bodies.” The film wants to tell, with the light tone of the comedy, one of the greatest challenges of our times: how can we create a woman’s view of the world, which is independent and different? In the days that they spend together, the five daughters and the two widows celebrate Saverio’s memory and at the end turn their situation upside down after having understood it, after having fought together, and after having perhaps found the secret of a new look, a new force. Logline Rosarno, Calabria, January 2010. Two African immigrants are shot at by local Italians followed by violent clashes. The film lays out the complex picture of this humanitarian catastrophe through an ensemble of characters. “CLASH!” is based on true events. The project has been developed at EAVE 2012. Synopsis AISHA just arrived from Sudan to the small southern Italian town of Rosarno. She crossed the mediterranean sea following her husband, whom she hasn’t heard from in two years. Aisha is pregnant. CARLO is 16 years old. Born in Rosano, all he wants is to get away. Constantly bored, Carlo hangs out with his friend MARIANO all the time. Mariano is 18 and owns an air gun. Carlo’s mother MARTA is the cheif 94

Synopsis of the local police in Rosano, and she knows many of the African immigrants around town. She tries to help the immigrants whenever she can, which is why her colleagues refuse to befriend her. KING is a proffesional boxer who represented Sudan at the Olympics in Beijing, but the political unrest has caused him and his brother SULEIMAN to flee. They now work on the orange plantations in Rosarno and live together withthousands of other immigrants in an abandoned factory. MONIR is Aishas husband and he is ashamed of the life he now has to lead on the orange plantations. He had promised Aisha he would make a lot of money in Europe. When Carlo and Mariano come home drunk from a long night at the discotheque in the city, they shoot at Monir and Suleiman from their car with the air gun as the men attempt to cycle to their jobs on the plantation. The attack will result in the most violent race riots southern Italy has ever seen. These riots will change the lives of everyone! Producers Note „CLASH!” is a film about how we want to live together in Europe with immigrants and which choice any of us can make. Furthermore it gives us an insight look on the life of illegal immigrants in southern Europe and the origin of our daily food in the supermarket. The film is able to engage with its extensive viewing angle on an important society issue particularly an arthouse audience, keeping in mind it is a film which will appeal to a younger audience due to its visual style. Following successful films such as “Waltz with Bashir” and “Gomorra”, which performed well both in festival and theatre, we identify clear chances for “CLASH!” to fit this existing market. The key asset is our creative team of debut director Jakob D. Weydemann and Italian scriptwriters Guido Iuculano and Domenico Distillo, who have been nominated for the David di Donatello Award and the Silver Ribbon Award and won the Premio Solinas. At national level, film funding is provided by the Italian State Ministry of Cultural Affairs & Activities (MiBAC) through its Fondo Unico dello Spettacolo (FUS). “Reference funding” is granted based on the economic success of a previous project, while “project funding” is provided for the production of feature films, debuts or second features, short films and the support of screenplays. In order to receive support, the production company must fulfil a set of formal requirements: the company must be represented in Italy by – at least – a branch office and must be registered in a MiBAC directory; and the project must be recognized as an Italian production. Moreover, a combined tax credit and tax shelter system has existed for production companies and investors in Italy since 2008. Tax shelter system has been repealed in 2012. The tax credit is interesting for producers who do not have a registered office in Italy, who are not producing a film with an Italian certificate of origin, and who are not intending to participate in a co-production with an Italian partner. Of course, an Italian production or co-production may also apply for the tax credit.

In its 2012 Yearbook, the European Audiovisual Observatory noted that „by prolonging its system of tax incentives up until 2013 and financing it by a tax on automobile fuel, Italy’s government freed the industry from its dependence on annual budget negotiations, thus making its support system more predictable. The incentives include tax breaks for local producers (20%), foreign productions (25%) and financial investors (40%)“ Since the system is quite complex, it is recommended that foreign producers work with an Italian executive producer who is familiar with the rules and regulations. Regional funding programmes can also be found in such regions as South Tyrol, Puglia, Piedmont, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Lazio. Business Location Südtirol (BLS) supports film and television movies of all genres in the production and pre-production phases. In individual cases, funding of screenplays is possible. Film production companies are eligible regardless of the location of their headquarters. Project applications may be submitted online in German, Italian or English. Selection criteria for funding include the artistic quality of the production and the envisaged regional effect. In 2013, the funding budget totals € 5m, with the funding cap for a single project set at € 1.5m. Funding takes the form of non-repayable grants

The Apulia Film Fund was established in 2007 to improve the audiovisual field in the Puglia region, and was followed in May 2012 by the creation of the Apulia International Film Fund dedicated to international film companies interested in shooting in the region. In 2012, the International & Hospitality funds will have a budget of approximately € 2m for film production (feature films and TV series), with the maximum support for each project set at € 300,000. The International Film Fund requires a theatrical contract in the land of the participating company and either an Italian minority co-producer or an Italian executive production able to apply for the national tax credit programme. FIP (Film Investimenti Piemonte) is a revolving film fund with a single company partner Film Commission Torino Piemonte and was established in 2009 to invest in projects with potential for economic returns in the Piedmont region. Support is given to feature films set in Piedmont which decide to spend at least the total amount of the financial contribution on the territory. FIP can grant funds for up to six productions per year, with up to € 200,000 each (up to € 100,000 for first/second feature films).

The Friuli Venezia Guilia Audiovisual Fund (FVG) operates in three main sectors: • Training, to encourage the participation of local audiovisual professionals in national and international courses for directors, scriptwriters, producers, editors, camera operators, and sound engineers; • Development, to cover all the activities between the idea and the production phase, from the script-writing and the research, to the casting, the fund raising and the presentation of a teaser; • Production, along with the promotion of the projects, this last action includes a financial support to cover production expenses with the goal of creating more competitive products. Lazio’s Regional Law for Cinema and Audiovisual Media aims to support one of the strategic sectors for the region’s economy and competitiveness as well as being a unique opportunity to promote and celebrate the image and identity of Rome and Lazio to the world. The fund, which has a budget of € 45m for the three years from 2011-2013, requires productions to spend at least 40% of their budgets in the Lazio region. Thanks to the fund, around € 260m were generated for investment in the region’s film and audiovisual sector, with such credits as Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love, Bernardo Bertolucci’s Me And You and the Taviani brothers’ Golden Bear-winning Caesar Must Die.

Reflecting Germany’s political system, the German film funding system is organised on a federal level and on a regional/state level. The federal system is divided into the FFA (Filmförderungsanstalt – German Federal Film Board) and the BKM (Federal Ministry of Culture). The FFA is geared towards strengthening the film industry according to economic principles, while the BKM focuses on the cultural aspects of films. In 2007, a new fund for the film industry was launched by the Federal Government: the DFFF (German Federal Film Fund). Originally established for three years, the DFFF was then extended for another three years until the end of 2012. Last year, the German government agreed to a second extension of three years - until the end of 2015 - with an increased budget of € 70 million for 2013. The German Federal Film Board (FFA) in Berlin is responsible for the execution of the DFFF. Up to 20 % of the approved production costs spent in Germany can be funded. Not only major productions benefit from the DFFF, but funding has also gone to small and medium-sized projects. The DFFF aims at improving the conditions for the film industry, preserving as well as enhancing the international competitiveness of film-related

companies, and at providing sustainable impulses for Germany as a film production hub as well as achieving other economic effects. On the regional/state level, almost every federal state has its own film fund. These regional funds include Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Medienboard BerlinBrandenburg, FilmFörderung Hamburg SchleswigHolstein, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), and Medien- und Filmgesellschaft BadenWürttemberg (MFG) and Nordmedia, to name the largest. In order to access the regional funds, producers are required to generate a specific „economic effect“ in the respective region. All German film funds support the development, production and distribution of films. Another partner for German producers is television. The two public channels, ARD and ZDF, as well as the private broadcasters are involved in the co-financing of German feature films. They also contribute to the financing of the FFA’s project funding programme. International producers are recommended to find a German partner in order to access the subsidy programmes. To be officially registered as a German film, a film must have a certain percentage of German financing. In those cases where the co-production is between countries with an existing treaty, German financial participation must amount to at least 20%.

As with the case of Germany and Switzerland, the Austrian film funding system is organised on a federal level and on a regional/state level. Five funding bodies operate on a national level: the Film Department of the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture (bmukk) allocates funding for feature films according to cultural and artistic criteria, while the Austrian Film Institute (Österreichisches Filminstitut/ÖFI) awards support on the basis of cultural and economic criteria. Funds are also provided on an annual basis for the production of feature films, including newcomer and innovative projects, as part of an agreement between the ÖFI and public broadcaster ORF in the Film/Television Agreement. In addition, television productions have been supported since 2004 by the FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA. In September 2010, Austria’s Federal Ministry for Economics, Family and Youth followed Germany’s successful DFFF model and created its own film production incentive scheme „Filmstandort Austria“ (Film Location Austria – FISA). Since its launch, FISA has supported 55 fiction films and documentaries, including such international co-productions as Fernando Meirelles’ Arthur Schnitzler adaptation 360, Peter Sehr and Marie Noelle’s costume drama Ludwig II, Detlev Buck’s 3D comedy Measuring The World and János Szász’s drama The Notebook. In addition, local productions – ranging from Karl Markovics’ Breathing and Markus Schleinzer’s Michael through Antonin Svoboda’s The Strange Case Of Wilhelm Reich and Florian Flicker’s Grenzgänger to Ruth Mader’s documentary What Is Love - have benefitted from the scheme.

To date, FISA has allocated € 15.2 million support to 55 projects with total production costs of € 132.5 million and generated an „Austrian spend“ of € 63.5 million. At the beginning of this year the FISA incentive was extended by another two years for the period of 2013-2014 with an annual budget of € 7.5 million. On announcing the extension, Economics Minister Reinhold Mitterlehner pointed out that the incentive „strengthens the competitiveness of the domestic film industry and makes Austria as a film location even more attractive for foreign productions with local partners. In this way, knowhow, jobs and added value stay in the country.“ On a regional level, there are 14 funding institutions in Austria: film funding is administered in each of the federal states („Länder“) by the arts departments, and support is also forthcoming from the economic departments in Upper Austria and Salzburg. The states of Styria, Tyrol and Vienna have institutions specialised in supporting their respective regions’ film industry and infrastructure: CineStyria Filmcommission & Fonds, Cine Tirol Film Commission (which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year), and the largest regional funder, the Vienna Film Fund. Austria’s public broadcaster ORF is an important partner for the domestic film industry, both through the formal framework of the Film/Television Agreement as well as the commissioned TV productions and film/TV co-productions. In 2011, ORF conducted € 99.4 million worth of business with Austrian film and TV producers.

Switzerland has been a federal state since 1848 and has a federal structure with three different political levels: the Confederation, the cantons and the communes. This is also reflected in the nation’s public film funding which is organised on a national and regional level. The Federal Department of the Interior (EDI) is home to the Federal Office of Culture (Bundesamt für Kultur/BAK) whose Film Department has an annual budget of CHF 26.8 million to support diverse measures including project development, production, distribution and cinema digitisation as well as CHF 14 million for contributing to the promotion of film culture (Swiss Films, film festivals, film publications, etc.). In 2004, Switzerland’s first regional fund, the Zurich Film Foundation (Zürcher Filmstiftung), was launched after a convincing «Yes for the cinema» by a referendum of Zurich’s population. With an annual budget of CHF 9 million, the Film Foundation focuses on assisting script development, production and distribution of cinema films – fiction, documentaries, shorts, animation and experimental films – as well as on supporting projects in co-production with foreign partners, and, only in special cases, TV movies In addition, the cantons – such as Berne and Aargau - have established film funding programmes to strengthen regional identity and guarantee cultural diversity. The Fond Regio Films supports independent production in the cantons of Geneva, Vaud and Fribourg and the cities of Geneva and Lausanne. To be eligible for Swiss public funding, a film coproduced between Switzerland and another country must be officially recognised as a Swiss film The following rules therefore apply: • An independent Swiss film producer must be chosen as a partner who will then apply for public funds. • Bilateral co-production agreements exist with Germany, Austria, and Italy, among others,

for films produced for theatrical release. In most cases, the minimum Swiss participation required varies between 10% and 30%. If no co-production agreement is present – as for the USA -, the minimum Swiss participation is 50%. • The artistic and technical participation (which includes the hiring of Swiss technicians and actors) must be proportional to the Swiss financial participation, • Once these conditions have been met, the Swiss co-producer can obtain the official agreement from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture (BAK). Films officially co-produced with Switzerland have access to the film funding administered by BAK. The maximum selective production subsidy per film is CHF 1 million and cannot exceed 50% of the production costs (Swiss share). Succès cinéma is a funding programme based on a film’s success in the cinema: for each ticket bought in a Swiss cinema, the Swiss screenwriter, director, producer, distributor and cinema-owner receive a bonus which must be reinvested in a future film project. Public broadcaster SRG SSR undertakes its obligations to the Swiss film industry through the Audiovisual Pact which was first signed in 1996 and now has an annual budget of CHF 22.3 million for the period from 2012 to 2015 . One of its key aims is to support diverse, independent audiovisual production on the basis of solid, professional structures. Apart from providing selective and automatic funding for film and TV production, the Pact has expanded its remit this year to also include the support of multimedia projects and the introduction of the performance-related funding category “Succès Artistique” in order to recognise films of particular artistic value. Swiss films which are invited to participate in major national and international festivals and which also win awards at these events will benefit additionally from this new way of promoting the arts. 107
