Chairman’s message The Salt Lake Home Builders Association is proud to welcome you to the 2012 Parade of Homes. Since 1946, Utah’s Parade has annually progressed to be one of the nation’s longest running Parade of Homes. When the Parade first began 66 years ago, the average Parade home cost $5,600. Now, the Parade is featuring homes ranging from $177,000 to multi-million dollar dream homes. This year’s Parade includes 25 Builders presenting 35 homes with the latest innovations in architecture, interior design and home construction.

Whether it’s interior design ideas, a search for your dream home or to simply be entertained, the Parade features something for everyone. Once again, the Salt Lake Home Builders Association is proud to partner 2012 parade chair with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah. A portion of the proceeds from Steven Dailey each ticket will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah to Steven Dailey Construction assist in granting wishes to every child in need. This summer, there are eight builder members who have decorated nine Make-A-Wish rooms, honoring a few of the many wishes granted by their foundation. I encourage attendees to look for these rooms and prepare to be touched by the stories of these courageous young recipients. As we have all struggled with the tough economy in recent years, these Make-A-Wish rooms should serve as a reminder that the tougher the times, the more we must work together and support each other. In addition, this year’s Parade also features a home constructed by the students of the Canyons School District / CTEC program. Be sure to visit this home and congratulate the students on such a great accomplishment. As the future stewards of our industry, they will continue the tradition of providing safe and affordable housing for all. I would like to thank this year’s represented builder members, the dedicated SLHBA staff of Paul, Christie and Ashley, the members of the Parade Steering Committee and our 2012 Parade sponsors without whom none of this would have been possible. About the Association
Thank you for joining us for another year of amazing Parade of Homes™ in the Salt Lake Valley. This year marks our 66th consecutive parade, the longest running in the country. We have added some cutting edge technology that will help you enjoy your parade tour and also allow you to reflect back on each home for the years to come. The parade has something for everyone, this year we have homes starting at $177,000 all the way up to a Multi-Million dollar, once in a life time, home. Some of the notable features of this year’s parade include a Utah Historic home restoration, and an amazing once in a life time 20,340 square foot mansion. We also are able to showcase 2012 slhba president Boyd Martin a home built by students in the Canyons School District, CTEC D.R. Horton program. Many of our builders have designed and created themed rooms dedicated to a child’s wish for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. A portion of every ticket sold to the year’s parade will be donated to Make-A-Wish. Vince Lombardi said it best, “Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” As the Salt Lake Home Builders Association we work as individuals towards a group effort. These include a strict code of ethics, contribution to charitable organizations, consumer advocacy on the local, state, and national level in the home building industry, protecting private property rights, and improving the quality of home and community that can be enjoyed in the Salt Lake Valley. You can be part of this effort by choosing a member next time you have a remodeling project or are looking to build a new home.
