We klokken af op 5 februari 2015, exact 50 jaar na de officiële opening van Beursschouwburg. Vijftig uur later liggen we allemaal ergens knock out in een black box of zachte zilveren zaal. We hopen dat dit legendarisch zal zijn (we hebben er alvast genoeg legendarische werkuren aan gespendeerd). Aan ambitie geen gebrek! We hebben 50 zeer verscheiden activiteiten gepland. Dit is niet zomaar een feest, maar een multidisciplinair feest, ééntje waar kunst en zottigheid verbroederen en we allen tezamen 50u vrolijk verbrassen. Het is belangrijk dat je ons de komende weken van erg nabij volgt, zodat je goed op de hoogte bent van hoe we die 50u aanpakken (en wat we van jou verwachten, behalve aanwezig zijn). Hieronder lees je wat er – op dit moment – op het programma staat. Maar zoals je weet, is Beursschouwburg permanent under construction. Wijzigingen zijn altijd mogelijk. Dit programma is trouwens volledig gratis. Een genereus verjaardagsgebaar in deze harde tijden.

Nous lancerons les hostilités le 5 février 2015, 50 ans jour pour jour après l’ouverture officielle du Beursschouwburg. Objectif: nous retrouver 50 heures plus tard, allongés à même le sol, exténués par l’effort, dans une boîte noire ou dans la douce atmosphère de la salle argentée. Nous espérons que l’événement deviendra légendaire, à l’instar du nombre d’heures que nous y avons consacrées, qui l’est quant à lui déjà! Nous n’avons en tout cas pas manqué d’ambition: 50 activités très variées figurent au programme. Il ne s’agira pas simplement d’une fête, mais d’une fête multidisciplinaire, une fête où l’art et la folie se déclineront sur un même mode, une fête où nous brûlerons ensemble joyeusement la chandelle par les deux bouts, 50 heures durant. Il est primordial que vous nous suiviez de près au cours des semaines à venir afin d’être parfaitement informés de la façon dont nous allons appréhender l’événement (et de ce que nous attendons de vous, en dehors de votre présence). Vous lirez ci-dessous ce qui figure, pour l’instant, au programme. Comme vous le savez, le Beursschouwburg est continuellement en construction. Des modifications ultérieures sont donc toujours possibles. Ce programme est en outre entièrement gratuit. Un geste d’anniversaire rempli de générosité en ces temps difficiles.

In beursschouwburg’s mind, the impossible has happened: on the occasion of our 50th birthday, we’re celebrating for 50 hours. 50 hours non-stop.

We’ll start the clock on February 5th, 2015, 50 years to the day since Beursschouwburg officially opened its doors. 50 hours later, we’ll all be laying around knockout somewhere, in a black box or a soft silver theatre hall. We hope the celebration will be legendary (as is the amount of working hours we spent organizing it). No lack of ambition here! We’ve planned 50 very diverse activities. This will be no ordinary party, but a multidisciplinary one, in which art meets craziness and in which we’ll collectively and happily squander 50 hours. It’s important that you follow us very closely in the coming weeks, so that you are up to date on how we will organize those 50 hours (and on what we expect from you, except being present). In what follows, you can see what has been programmed up till now. But as you know, Beursschouwburg is permanently under construction. Changes are therefore always possible. By the way, this programme is free of charge. A generous birthday gesture in harsh times.

EN You will in no case be hungry or thirsty during the Beursschouwburg marathon. As always, our super friendly bar staff is glad to provide you with drinks. On top of that, we’ll be serving the most exquisite meals at very reasonable prices, 50 hours straight. For the occasion, an actual beursschouwbistro will open its doors. The chefs of L’Affaire Culinaire have already started the mise en place. Sleeping is possible, under the stars with Marriott. Beursschouwburg has always had a special relationship with hotels. From Hotel Central (in 1995 in Hotel Central, just across the road on the Ortsstraat, squatters took over in protest against the corruption and stranglehold by project developers on the city) we’re now heading for the Marriott Hotel. Our neighbours across the street will settle you down for the night. Bear in mind: this will be no ordinary night.
