State of the Chapter

Dear Brothers and Friends of Beta,

C-Term has been the start of a new exec administration in our chapter. After a stunningly great slate of candidates in our B-Term elections, the exec board had a fantastic retreat planning for the spring semester and having a chaotic tournament of keepy-uppy.

One of the first things our chapter had to grapple with was our response to a difficult situation created in late BTerm. A general IFC new member program included unsavory anonymous responses from some of the participants, prompting a social freeze. We, in accordance with IFC, and adhering to our own values, concluded that while we were nearly certain none of our members would have made such remarks, there is still work to be done and areas for growth. We have decided to update some of our rush policies to ensure that we continue to have a clear picture of the men we bring into our organization. We also aim to ensure our members are educated in ways that we can be more inclusive and supportive of the people that inhabit the world we live in through a variety of methods. Reach out to myself or Gabriel Buziba if you would like more details for those plans.

Through C-Term we ran a rush period, finding two fantastic new members; Ricardo Croes-Ball and Benjamin Skarnes. This brings us to 6 new members for the year, and we are overwhelmingly enthralled by the quality of men who have joined our merry band.

Speaking of New Members, we initiated two of our new members this term, Jacob Curtis and Evan Mandel. It was a wonderful time, and we are very happy to call them Brothers. While there were many fantastic events such as Beta Theta Pies, a Super Bowl Event, CS events, and a Sauce Off social with acapella groups, the event that stole the show was our Formal. Held at the White Room in Worcester, the event brought brothers and guests together for hours of fun, including several great bartenders, led by head bartender Spencer Smith; flimsy ping pong, and great singing by a variety of members.

In the house, despite Casey Frommer, Matthew Letourneau, and Sean Merone all being on IQP, the library and both living rooms have hosted many brothers, playing numerous board games, It Takes Two, and watching varying quality of videos and shows. The bonds of our brotherhood are stronger than ever and the state of the beta is strong. For Alumni, Relatives, and Friends of Beta, we hope to see you on campus soon. You always brighten the chapter house. Please reach out to any of our members, but especially myself or Devin Kachadoorian so we can welcome you with the excitement and events you deserve.

Rush recap

As the Recruitment Chairman for the Eta Tau chapter of Beta Theta Pi, I am pleased to report that our fraternity has been working hard to prepare for the upcoming recruitment season Despite the challenges of the past year, we have been determined to create a solid foundation for our recruitment efforts. Over the past few months, we have been focused on engaging with potential new members through a variety of events and activities. These interactions have allowed us to build stronger relationships with those interested in joining Beta Theta Pi and gather valuable insights and feedback that will help us improve our recruitment efforts going forward.

One of our most significant accomplishments has been the creation of a structured approach to recruitment. This includes the development of a recruitment event cookbook and a bidding schedule for the fall rush. Additionally, we have implemented brothood recruitment trainings to equip our brothers with the skills they need to effectively recruit new members.

As a result of our hard work, we are confident that we are well-prepared to attract and retain the best possible members to our fraternity. However, we recognize that recruitment is an ongoing process, and we must continue to invest time and effort to ensure that we are always improving and growing.

In conclusion, I am proud of the progress we have made in our recruitment efforts. Our focus on engagement and structured approach to recruitment has set us up for a bright future, and we are excited to continue improving and growing in the years to come. I want to extend my gratitude to the dedicated recruitment committee members who have made this progress possible.

Welcome,New members

Formal

Friends, food, music and dancing. All could be found at Beta's Out of this World! Formal. This year's formal was a lively, star-studded event, where our brothers and guests celebrated into the night. The event featured a mocktail bar, amazing food, karaoke performances, and ping pong! Performances by talented brothers such as John Do, Dan Rabinovitz, Geoff Garsson, Darren Ni stole the audience's attention. Conga lines and the Cotton-Eyed Joe kept the event fun and entertaining. Overall, this amazing night highlighted Beta in the best and brightest of lights.

With our amazing efforts throughout the past year, Beta has been able to accomplish some impressive feats -- we have a strong new rush class, progressive DEI efforts, and our chapter is tighter-knit than ever. The moral of the story is: when we put our minds to things, the stars are our limit, and our chapter is out of this world!
