AsIsitontheprecipiceofretirementoverlookingwhatwouldbethebeginningofmy25thyearastheCEOoftheJewish CommunityCenter,Iamstruckbythesheerdepthandcapacityofthisamazinginstitution,andhumblingitistohavebeenapartof itforsolong ThisrealitybecameprofoundlyclearformeatourAnnualMeetingattheendofMay,asIsatwatchingatributevideo presumablypreparedtorecognizemeformyservice,butwhichtrulyaccentuatedwhathasmadetheJCC“theplacetobe”forso manyindividualsandfamiliesinSanAntonio
ThemanyfacesoftheJCCincludedinthevideo,whilememorableformepersonally,doesn’tsufficientlyconveytherichnessofthe JCCstory,embeddedinthemanyimagesdisplayedwhichincludecurrentandformerstaffandvolunteers,facilityimprovements andupgrades,programsandservices,andspecialevents,eachdepictingthedepthandcapacityofyourJCC.
TherichanddiversenatureoftheJrangesfromthosewhobroughtusfromtheJCConRamparttotheJhereattheCampus,to thosewhoareworkingtodaytopreparetoserveourcommunityforthenextgeneration Itreflectsthosewholaboredbehindthe scenesandthoseinfrontoftheline,whohelpedraiseourcommunityprofilethroughthemanyprogramsandservicesofferedat andbytheJCC,whichhaveimpactedanentiregenerationinSanAntonioinwaysthatcanonlybemeasuredbythegrowthand developmentofthemanyindividualsandfamiliesinourcommunitythathavecountedontheJCCastheirplacetobe.
