Greetings!

The Maywood Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present its 2013 74th Anniversary Community Guide as an aid to those residing in, as well as those visiting, our community. Within the 27th year of publication, we hope you will notice some improvements and that you will be especially attentive to support those businesses, organizations and individuals who have purchased ads in this guide. The theme for this year’s Guide is “Children Our Greatest Treasure” with feature stories of several of our Chamber members, who serve our youth. The Chamber has a long-standing tradition of supporting excellence in education and, since 1988, has awarded scholarships to honor students living in Maywood and attending local schools ... Proviso East High School, Proviso Math and Science Academy and Walther Lutheran High School. The Chamber welcomes and congratulates the newly elected Village Officials: Mayor Edweena Perkins,Village Clerk Viola Mims, Trustee Antonette “Toni” Dorris and

Trustee Michael Rogers, and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration with the Mayor, Trustees and Village Manager as, together, we seek to encourage the growth of existing businesses, while urging new businesses and individuals to locate to Maywood. In the present economic malaise it is of utmost importance that we put our finances in order, increase our tax base, and ensure a business-friendly attitude among village officials. As the Chamber celebrates its 74th year of service to the community, let us renew our efforts in carrying out the important task of restoring Maywood to pre-eminence among the communities of metropolitan Chicago ... to make it an attractive place for people of all backgrounds to live, work and play. Let us truly strive to be leaders in the Third Millennium. May God bless Maywood and our great country, America!
